TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Do you like "Lindsay" for a girl? (serious question)

I NEVER hear of people naming their baby Lindsay, but I think it's a good name. Not weird, but definitely not common. I was one of two Lindsays in my whole high school. I rarely meet another.

I like my name. Why don't people use it? Would you consider it?

Re: Do you like "Lindsay" for a girl? (serious question)

  • I think it's a good name, but it's NMS for a baby.  Plus, I knew a couple Lindsays in high school who were total b!tches, and that always takes a name off the table for me (bad connotations).

  • I think people don't use it a lot now because of triplesevens' theory that people don't use names that were popular when they were growing up.

I personally like the name Lindsay.  I know a lot of sweet, pretty Lindsays.  And I like it because I don't teach any Lindsays.

  • I really like it, but I know soooo many Lindsays that I would not use it.  I work with two Lindsays right now and there used to be a third but she quit.  One of them is so full of herself she'd probably think I named the baby after her.  haha.

  • I do like it but Lohan has ruined it for me.
  • Lindsay(and all the other "unique" spellings) was popular when I was in school and I still know several people with that name. My MIL use to babysit a baby named that, she is like 4 or 5 now. I have always thought Lindsay to be a popular name.

  • I like it. It's not on my "list" but I think it's a perfectly lovely, normal name.

Yup, that's why. It would probably be an uncommon name for a baby today, but it would remind parents too much of their peers. I'm guilty, too, because it's a pretty name but I knew too many Lindsays growing up to consider it (there were about 4 in my sorority).

  • I think it's cute, but I can't use it..... That's the name of DH's high school sweetheart. That would just be wrong.

I was worried people would say this. Lindsay = Britney.

I also tend to think it is a very 1990s type of name. It'll come back in my lifetime, I know it will!

It does have a lot of youneek spellings associated with it, unfortunately.

  • Its sounds like Lynsey right? or at least close.  That was my favorite name for a girl and planned on using it until my brother used it for my one and only neice Lynsey.  I love it!
