Baby shower dress - opinions please!

Please excuse the room... I know it's a disaster! Sorry.

This is the dress I got for my baby shower at the end of this month. SCORE... only 25.00!

Opinions please? Do you think its dressy enough? I don't want to be over the top "dressy" and I want to be comfortable and this dress is VERY comfortable, but does it look cute enough to wear for my baby shower?

I am on the fence about it.

  • I love it! so chic!

  • The dress is okay, but I don't love the belt. Something about it seems harsh and interrupts the flow & lightness. Can you try it with a ribbon sash instead? Something like this would be cute:

  • I'm not crazy about it. It doesn't look dressy enough and (IMO) it's too short for a long dress. I'm sorry. :(

  • The belt makes it a lot of fun! Cute!

I love it, especially with the belt! What shoes are you going to wear with it?

  • I like the dress but i really don't like that belt.

If it ends up being "the one", I will wear cute little flat brown leather flip flops w/ a cute feminine braid type of detail on the strap.

Probably wouldn't be as short if you lost the belt.

Can we see it without the belt?

I like the dress and think it's dressy enough.

Good call-- let's see it without the belt!

  • Love it! It looks very comfortable and chic, which is a hard combo to pull off.

I like the dress and think it's dressy enough.

I am tall and my boobs are a little "out of control" at the moment,  so I did pull it up a little bit to make sure I had enough coverage in that area.

I don't have to wear the belt but w/o it... I don't know. It's a stretchy elastic/gathered area right there. Maybe the ribbon idea mentioned above might work better?

I can't take a pic w/o the belt right now... I am at work and the dress is at home =) I should have taken a pic with and one w/o... sorry.

  • dress is cute, belt I dont know
  • It does look a tad on the short side, especially once you put a shoe with it.  I'm also pretty picky about length since I'm a tall girl and its the first thing I check.  I think the belt is a nice accent though, I wouldn't leave it off.

  • I like the idea of belting it, I just don't think that's the right belt.  The ruffle on the dress mixed with a woven belt just looks a bit off.  That particular belt definitely dresses the outfit down as well.  I think if you did a skinny belt or ribbon it would look cuter, and would give you a little bit more length.  If you wear some cute, big earrings and a few bracelets, I think it'd be a cute summer shower outfit.

  • The dress itself is fine. As someone who's always had a very large chest, I would not brave the tube top style and now that I cannot wear a long-line strapless bra, there is even less chance. But if your girls are contained, then more power to you!

Personally, the belt doesn't work for me. It looks too big and masculine compared to the feminine small print and ruffle on the dress.

  • Thank you so much for your help ladies! I am thinking the dress is a go w/ maybe a diff belt or a ribbon of some sort. We will see. I will pull the dress down a bit... should be ok with a good bra Wink. My shoes will definitely be flats.
  • cute! The belt would probably bother me but it looks cute.

  • I like the dress, but also agree that the belt isn't the right one...a ribbon is a really cute idea or a thinner belt maybe closer in colour to the dress. Or even if you loosely tie a belt under your belly, that might look cute...I think its too cut off up top with the ruffles , there's too much going on up there.
  • It is super cute!  I think it's the perfect amount of dressiness...throw on flip-flops if you want to wear it more casually or add a little wedge if you want to dress it up.  LOVE IT!

As for the comments about the belt...I like a belt but maybe not the wide leather one, not because it looks bad but because I can imagine the buckle jamming me in the belly or under the boobs when I sat down.

I've found a use for my 1st tri belly band thing....I use it to hold my boobs in a little more when wearing something strapless or low cut, I just put it on over my bra and it helps things stay contained, I swear it helps!

I was going to say... and please don't be offended, I am certainly in no place to speak with my I cups... but I think the belt makes you look really top heavy. I would love to see a pic without the belt when you have a chance. I believe the dress is more than dressy enough for a shower... and the fact that it is sleeveless is surely a welcomed thing in this awful heat. I think I might suggest some accent in a creamy yellow to make the outfit really pop -- brighten it up. But otherwise, I think it's a cute dress!!
