Team Green turned..... (long - PsIP)

PINK!!!! Hi girls, we had our beautiful baby girl last Wednesday June 30th.

Isabella Veronica - 11:59am - 8lbs 6oz - 20 1/2" long

Around 5pm Tuesday evening I got up to answer the phone and felt my underwear and pants get wet, no gush but made me think something may be up. Nothing really happened until later that night I started getting random pains but still wasn't sure. DH got home around 11pm/12am and was telling me about his day, he looked at me and said "what's wrong?" I said "I might be in labour" :)

I started trying to time the contractions around 1am but they were all over the place in duration and time in between but I couldn't lie down let alone sleep so I went downstairs and let DH sleep just in case nothing happened, he would need to go to work in the morning. I timed the contractions almost all night, maybe getting an hour of sleep on the couch but I had to get up and pace between the living room and kitchen during each contraction so not much sleep was had!

Around 4am I started timing them again and they were very regular, around 1-2 min long, 4-5-6 minutes apart so around 5:45am I woke up DH and told him it was for real and he needed to get up and call our doula. She said she'd be to our house in an hour and about a 1/2 hour later I told him to call again and tell her not to bother coming to the house that she should meet us at the hospital. Of course it was rush hour on a week day but we made it to the hosptial just after 8am and went through admitting and were told to wait in a little room, contractions were coming strong and fast at this point and when they finally came to check me I was already 6-7cm so they put me in a delivery room right away (I have no idea what time it is at this point).

I walked around the room a lot, tried the birthing ball but was not interested in trying the shower at all, it wasn't too long (felt like forever) before I got the intense feeling of wanting to push. I pushed lying down on my side and then got up every now and then to have gravity help, when she was in the right position they called the doctor and I tried to give a few pushes lying down and they were working but not getting the desired results so I tried the squatting bar (definately recommend if you can do it) and she came out like 2-3 pushes later - 11:59am - Isabella was here!!!

I tore a bit so I have a few stiches but I went med-free and intervention-free and I am so happy that I did, I sometimes still can't believe it but it was an amazing experience!
