North Dakota Babies

So I bought a ring sling...

And I used it when B and I went to SAMs today. I have never gotten so many comments.

"looks like she is in a little cocoon."

"oh look how sweet she is."

"does she like that thing?"

"does it hurt your back?"

"how old is she?" etc.

I don't ever get comments when I wear her in the ergo. Just thought it was kinda weird. Oh and not to mention a lot of these people wanted to touch her too. But she seemed to like the sling.

On another note, I don't recommend wearing your baby to SAMs, because you have to lift heavy things and that is harder when wearing a baby. A man saw me struggling with 42 lbs of cat litter in the parking lot and helped me load my car. Smile

Re: So I bought a ring sling...

  • I love baby wearing at the grocery store.  But if I put the car seat in the cart, I can't see over it.  And it does make shopping more difficult.  Bending over to the bottom shelves is hard and lifting heavy things, also difficult.

People always touch K's feet while we are out.  It bugs me.

  • Loading the player...
  • when my friend just had her LO, we would go places with the sling, and we'd take turns when she got tired.

Ppl really do try to get in there with the baby when you carry it like that.

I can't understand this, and I think I'd be bothered..

  • I loooooove wearing Mari in my RS!!!  She was very hesitant at first, but now she's used to it and falls right to sleep.  What I love about it is that once she's asleep in either the hip carry or the tummy to tummy, I can easily slide  my hand in and put her into a cradle position with her legs sticking out the side.  She'll sleep for hours like that!

I also notice that when I wear the RS, I get a lot of compliments.  Everyone is intrigued by it... but it was that way with the moby too.  I don't think a structured carrier like the ergo or bjorn get as many compliments because they look so technical, if YKWIM.   As a matter of fact, I saw a baby being carried in a bjorn the other day and the poor thing's legs were just dangling straight down and her whole body was just flopping around.  You could clearly see all her weight was on her crotch.  The mom came up to me and said "oooh! What's that!!  That looks so much more comfortable!" and of course I got into a whole BWing discussion with her.

I think I've become a bit finatic at this point.... I now own 2 mobies, a RS, and two osnaburg cotton wraps I cut and had the lady down the hall hem for me.  I'm constantly researching different wraps and techniques and even asked for a woven for my birthday from my momma.

If you like your RS, you should check out www.thebabywearer.com  I just started posting on that site to get some help with my RS when I first bought it.  The girls over there are really nice and BWing experts =)
