My son, Kolby, arrived July 3rd at 11:09 am. A TRUE blessing. He was 7lbs 9oz and 20 3/4 inches long. Had a couple of issues right off the bat, but doing wonderfully now. We are home and going. Getting settled into a routine and just figuring everything out.
Birth story:
I went to the doctor on Friday the 2nd. I was only a 2 and the doctor said he would see me Tuesday. I really took it to heart that I was going to have an induction and just settled with that. My husband took me to have my toes done, dinner and a movie Friday night. We were going to get up Saturday and finish everything up with the house and baby. At 12:30 I woke up with some cramping. Nothing big, took a couple of tylenol and went back to bed. Up again at 2 with some more. But nothing I couldn't handle. Back to bed. At 3 I was up again. I thought maybe these where Braxton Hicks that everyone said I would have. I started tracking them but they were about 15 to 20 minutes apart. I sat on the edge of my bed with three pillows on my side and would lean over and sleep between them. When I had a contraction I would have to get up and either walk or go to the bathroom. I would then wait it out. I walked my entire house that evening. At 5 I woke my husband up because I could no longer handle the pain. We were heading to the hospital. We got there finally around 6:20. I did not want to get to the hospital and get sent home. I wanted to be to this point. We went to triage and changed into a gown. I had to talk myself into that bed to get checked. I did not want to lie down on my back at all - but I kept saying "If I dont get checked they can't give me meds, and if they can't give me meds and I am too far along, I have to do this in this pain." Needless to say I got in that bed. The nurse checked me and I was a 5. I got to stay! I was so excited!
They got me a room and the nurse came in to start my IV. She blew the first one (lots of pain later on) and finally got the second one started. They gave me some drugs through that till the anestesiologist could get there. He showed around 7:15ish. He was heaven in blue. I was completely relaxed after he finished and felt great. The doctor came in and broke my water and checked me again around 8:30ish. I was a good 8. He took a bet and said we would have a baby around 12. At 10:30 the nurse came in and checked me and she said it was time. I started pushing around 10:40 and we had the little man at 11:09. They went to put him on my belly after they cut the cord and he wouldn't take that first big breath and cry. It was a little quite in the room at first. They wisked him to the warmer and the nurses and pedi started suctioning him and getting him to cry. It took what felt like FOREVER to hear that first cry. I was a little teary eyed. I did tear and had to have a couple of stitches, but nothing to bad.
I was up walking that afternoon (which felt great to do). We had TONS of visitors that first day since he came so fast and early. My family wasn't able to be there during the birth, but arrived shortly there after. I was thankful that a friend could come and take pictures for us, during the birth. She did wonderfully!
We have a wonderful baby boy that is doing amazingly well. He is already sleeping really well, and I have been able to rest. Which is a blessing! He has the longest fingers and toes I have ever seen. Will have to get pictures of them for you all.
