POOP ISSUES. Why didn't I get the memo??

SO! I was not prepared for the poop issues with potty training... I have no idea why I didn't read up on this beforehand, or realize how common it apparently is... but it sucks! DS constipates himself and is miserable. He hops around and grabs his butt and poots, but he will not poop! He did last night, but probably bc I gave him 5 mini prunes beforehand, so maybe it was a sneak attack!

He is awesome with pees (we're on Day 5 - we did the 3 day method, btw) - makes it every time. But when I KNOW he has to poop - he does tell me, but just sits down for 1 second and hops off and cries. He's almost traumatizing himself with this - bc he knows he has to, but won't. We've tried it all.. books.. toys.. you name it. What could help?????

    I have heard this is very common in my friends. My friends son constipated himself so much that she had to have the pedi prescribe a mild laxative and literally lock herself with him in the bathroom until he pooped. She said it took 3 long hours in the bathroom but after he went that first time, he had no issues anymore and was completely trained!GL!

    (I'm telling you about my friend b/c DD was the opposite, she would poop in the potty long before peeing in it)

    My 2 girls, both born on a Friday the 13th, are exactly 2 years, 2 months, 2 hours and 2 minutes apart! And Baby Boy joined us October 11, 2013! image

    I don't know either, but we just finished Day 2 and DS hasn't pooped yet.  I'm going to call his pedi if he doesn't poop tomorrow.  I essentially gave him permission to poop in his overnight diaper tonight by telling him to call us for a new diaper if he "happens to poop in the one he has on".  He has had a TON of fiber in the last two days, and I can tell that he really wants to poop, so hopefully he'll at least get it out that way and we can work on getting it in the potty later.
