18 dpo...BFN...

and no AF...  I have no idea what is going on.  It's my bad that I'm not taking my basal temperature, but I don't know if I ovulated when I had a positive OPK...

A nurse at my doctor's office told me to wait for one week to see if my AF will show up, then call to make an appointment for a blood test.

It's frustrating not to be able to ttc every month.  My cycles are very long, and my doctor says I may have PCOS...  I've been losing a lot of hair this past year, and I have acne problems.  It fits, but I read PCOS could be closely related to obesity...I'm 105 lbs...  Is there anything I can do to make it go away???  I think the bcp that I was taking for 6 years really fried my pituitary gland...

My son really is a miracle baby.

Thank you for listening.

Re: 18 dpo...BFN...

  • Sometimes it takes a couple of days after my +OPK before I acutally O, but even then that's a long LP. I know that PCOS can cause false +OPKs, so perhaps that's what happened.

Have you temped in the past? I temped enough cycles that even on my break-from-temping cycles I could tell if I had O'ed or not after temping for a few days. I had super long/irregular cycles too. It sucks temping them, but it was definitely helpful. I'm also not overweight -- you can definitely have PCOS and not be.

    GL to you!

Long cycles suck - unless you're not ttc. =-)  It is so frustrating though to not know what's going on with your body - sometimes in spite of having all info available.

I'm pretty sure you can't get PCOS to go away, but I know you can manage it with foods. Even if you are thin, eating white bread (for example) would produce the same blood sugar spike that anyone else would have.  (ok - as far as I know - not a doctor or nutritionist!)  So, frequently eating types of foods throughout the day that will keep your blood sugar stable can reduce the impact that insulin has on your hormones.  It's actually a healthy way for anyone to eat, PCOS or not.  Lots of info on the web about that.

GL to you - hang in there!

  • Thank you very much for your kinds words...

I've only had 3 ttc cycles since the miscarriage in October, so it's frustrating.

I do love to eat sweets, so I will cut back.  And I'll start temping again.

    Thanks again!
