Hey ladies!Just wanted to pop in and say that it looks like Q is coming home today! They are eyeballing 7:00 but there's a chance of it happening earlier. Keep your fingers crossed.
Other news, my milk is coming in and I've been able to pump a lot in the past 24 hours so no more formula for my LO! They make me feed in a certain window (every 3 hours) whether she's interested or not.
I'm hoping this explains some of why she hasn't really been latching.
she's like a little kitten. She'll nuzzle and lick and then fall asleep. Or she'll latch, fall asleep and dream suckle. Ugh. Hoping for better luck at home when I can feed on demand without anyone breathing down my neck! I also plan to call a Lactation consultant if it doesn't improve.
Ummm. I'll never take pooping for granted again! Things aren't 100% yet but getting back and I'm so much more comfortable!
Lastly, Q was in NICU because of my fever, her fever at birth combined with my GBS + status. It's just hospital protocol. Nat, had there been no fever she wouldn't have gone to NICU. She had to stay the extra day because of a low resting heart rate the day she was born. I was upset because they keep saying it's 'Standard to watch for 3 days after the episode'. So how come they didn't tell me that until a day and 1/2 later when I was waiting with baited breathe to take her home? I'll vent about the NICU later tho. I'm sure it's a godsend for sick babies but it was just a huge pain for us.
Re: Update
Yay! That's awesome your getting great milk production. Hopefully once you are all nice and settled at home she'll be able to focus better on BFing.
Fingers crossed that you go home sooner than 7!
I hope that Quinn can come home sooner for you so that you can start being able to feed on demand.
Good luck with BF at home!
Yay for Quinn coming home! I hope the BFing situation improves when you get home and can work on her schedule. The kitten description is pretty cute though
Thanks for the explanation. That makes sense.
