Laundry line - how to?

I"m trying to get DH to put up a laundry line - all our neighbors have them from the deck to a tree in the backyard.  Do these come in kits?  How did you go about putting yours in?  In order to motivate him I think I'll need to give him some direction!  I want it up before we start washing the CDs!   thanks!

Re: Laundry line - how to?

  • We have a retractable one - I think you can get them at the hardware store. It comes with the line reel that you screw onto like the house, and then a slot piece that you screw onto another object the appropriate distance away (ours is a post).  I'm not sure if they come with the screws or not (I'd think they might), but otherwise the rest of it is in the package.

  • I ordered (or my mom did as my housewarming gift) a five line retractable kit from Amazon. DH and my dad bought a post from the local lumber supply and some quick-set concrete and they hung the main part of the clothesline on the side of our garage and then dug a hole and buried the post on the other side and then the lines come out and hook onto a gizmo that is attached to the post. Everything but the post and quickrete came in the kit.

it looks likes from this that the receiver bracket does NOT come w/ the kit but I am almost 100% sure ours did. I'll ask DH if he remembers buying it when he bought the post or if it was in the kit....

  • We bought our supplies from Home Depot.
