POLL: Matching outfits for siblings

What do you think about matching outfits?

Re: POLL: Matching outfits for siblings

  • Sometimes I buy matching PJs and they love it.  I seldom buy matching outfits though.  For special occasions like Easter I dress them in coordinating outfits.

I'm not opposed to matching but E. wears a lot of S.'s hand-me-downs right now.  S. is moving into more school age sizes so it's harder to even find stuff that matches in the correct sizes.  Their personalities are really different.  When I buy new stuff for E., it's probably not something that would suit S. anyway.

  • Very similar to KKMMex: I do coordinating outfits, like in my siggie (although you can barely see), not matching.  Not really into matching.

And even if I wanted to do matching it really is tough.  You wouldn't think so with just a 2 year difference, but it seems we're always shopping in different sections and therefore have a different variety.

And Julia almost wears all hand-me-downs, so not buying for her often anyway.

My biggest problem is that when I am buying coordinating outfits for them, I don't know to whom to give the cutest dress.  Because there is *always* a cutest, and I don't like playing favorites!

  • for everyday? BIG Nay. I have two sets of twins as cousins (same family, identical boys and fraternal girls). At 6 and 4 they are STILL dressed in matching outfits every day and at night for pajamas. It's just too much.

  • I don't like it. I've done it once for the girls for a pic for my mom as she bought then matching dresses but that's it. I'm ok with Pjs which we did at Christmas.

I almost always end up with the girls coordinating by accident. I make a big effort not too but somehow they always come out in the same colors or quite similar.

  • My BFF loves to dress her boys in coordinating outfits- not the same but like the same 'collection.' It' snot everyday, but when they go out anywhere yes. I always used to tease her about it, but then this year for the 4th i happened to have 2 red/white checkered shirts for the boys. They're not the same brand, have different sized checks and are slightly different styles but both are camp shirts. So, I decided they would wear them together with tan shorts and they were soooo cute!

I've had them somewhat coordinated for pictures and stuff but I always scoffed at real matching outfits but i think I may have just been won over a little bit.

  • I like the coordinated looks, but not necessarily matching.  I've already got my eye on hats for my kiddos to wear in the fall for holiday pictures...they coordinate, but don't really match.

I guess that's what I like so much about Janie & Jack.  There are so many great options within each collection and you're able to dress each kid to their personality. Though I have to say I don't know if they coordinate across genders...I have three nieces and a daughter so I've never shopped for a boy at the same time.

  • I thought I would never, ever do this.  I was wrong.  I have some matching polo shirts that the boys have worn to church and I have coordinating, but not exactly the same shirts they have worn for pictures and family events.

Where is the picture of this cuteness?  I demand to see your boys decked out for the 4th. ;)

  • I match them 5% of the time because sometimes it's just really cute for them to match and Emmy loves it when they match exactly.

60% of the time (especially when we're doing something special) they coordinate.  (i.e. same collection or same color theme).  Like Gymboree had the safari giraffe theme and so Ally had the bubble outfit with the purple ribbon straps, and Emmy had the purple dress with brown straps.  I also bought a lot from that collections because I love the coloring in it (the pink, brown, lavender).

The rest of them, I put whatever is clean on them and they don't match at all.

  • I think it depends how old they are and on the outfit. Most of the time it's adorable but sometimes it can be a bit much. I'm sure your boys look super cute...
  • i also like coordinating outfits for special occasions.  however as an identical twin myself who was dressed the same every day until i was 7, im against matching outfits.  i even remember the day at sears when my mom took my sister and i and we were able to select whichever dress we wanted.  it was a good day Big Smile

  • two little boys in matching polos and tan pants/shorts ... so adorable!

we'll do coordinating stuff I'm sure of it.  But I can already see that these two have different personalities, so I can't imagine not dressing them to fit who they are.

However, holiday time is the exception. All the girls in our family (all five of them) get matching dresses.
