I was wondering how many of you are having this done? If so why?
I have to decide today if I want to have this done. I have talked to my OB about it and she explained what the pros and cons are in her opinion but told me it was up to me. I am having trouble deciding if I really want to get this test done or if I just want to let it be.
There is a part of me that feels whatever happens happens, and We will deal with whatever is on our plate.
What are your thoughts?
Re: NT Scan and Bloodwork????
I'm getting it done today, I had it done with both my boys and its just helpful to know what is ahead. With DS2 he descended to fast down the birth canal and didn't cry just grunted. They took him to the Special nursery for what seemed like an eternity and I was in the dark. I would rather be prepared than in the dark but that's just me.

[spoiler]
We had ours done and we haven't gotten any phone calls from our doctor so we are hoping that nothing is wrong. I have an appointment with her next week so we'll probably go over results then, but I'm going under the assumption that nothing is wrong.
Is something came back as positive, DH and I wouldn't do anything unless there were serious problems with the LO.
We did the NT scan and it was a good experience. For us, it had everything to do with extra information. I am the type of person where more information is always better.
DH has a sister with a genetic anomaly and should our baby be at greater risk for disabilities it would help us prepare: from ruling out a home or center birth to choosing a hospital with the best NICU to investigating local resources to reading up to praying. I doubt that we would've done more invasive tests because of the risks.
Plus we wanted to see the baby again and make sure he/she was still there and growing (we'd had a previous loss and thus lots of anxiety with this PG). We got to see the baby lots during the extended time on the machine and the dr even switched to 3d u/s when the baby was too wiggly for the measurements. We loved watching it play, nap, then play again. We went home with pictures and some video clips.
Since the test has no physical risks and for us more information is emotionally beneficial, it made complete sense to do it.

why do you suggest this? I spoke with my doctor about doing the scan and blood work but no follow up tests. If they say there is a chance of downs, I would rather know but remain hopeful during the pregnancy however prepare myself for delivery that something might not be perfect. I appreciate your input.
