Sorry for a nap question, I know there are tons of them, but something about this just isn't sitting right with me and I wanted to get some more experienced feedback.
DS wakes up at around 6 or 6:30 and plays in his crib until we go get him, usually around 6:45 (sometimes he'll fall back asleep for 20 minutes or so, but not so much anymore). He is usually rubbing his eyes and pulling at his ear, indicating that he is tired, by the time I leave to take him to DCP, which is 8 or so. He goes down for a nap from 8:30-10, then he takes his afternoon nap with the other kids around 1.
DCP has been telling me that she wants to eliminate his morning nap because she thinks it's causing his afternoon nap to be shorter. I am gathering that she does not like that he is waking up before the other kids and is shortening her afternoon break, though she hasn't flat-out admitted it. I really feel that DS still needs his morning nap, but I just want to make sure that it's not typical or standard practice to start working on getting down to one long afternoon nap at this age. WDYT?
Re: DCP trying to eliminate morning nap at 8 months?
It's always at least an hour! That's what was so surprising to me. It's not like he's only sleeping for 30 or 45 minutes. An hour is the shortest it ever is, and usually it's more like 1.5 hours.
My LO definitely needs his morning nap too. He's also 8 months, and I can't imagine him staying awake from 7am until 1pm (at least, not without being a total nightmare).
This is what my 2 YEAR OLD does. 2yr and 8mos are totally different. I think the DCP of the original poster needs to suck it up and let the boy sleep!
