Im starting to get worried. My BP is starting to creep up. Right now its 135/80 or around there and normally my BP is low 110's/60. Any advice?
My doctor said if it doesnt go down on bed rest I go in 2 weeks. I'm starting to worry since Im only 28 weeks and worrying doesn't quite help the situation.
Re: Anyone have high BP early in the 3rd trimester?
Worrying definitely won't help, but it's easier said than done.
With my first pregnancy, my blood pressure is normally around 90/60. Around 29 weeks, it went to 120/80. Dr said that she needs to start watching it at the next appt. Next appt at 31 weeks, it was 110/85. Dr rechecked and I got nervous and it went up to 110/89. She sent me right away to the hospital to get monitored (Non-stress test and biophysical). And then I went on bedrest and did the 24 urine collection. It came back over 300 in protein (which is the diagnosis for pre-eclampsia). But it was mild. So I was pretty much on bedrest from 32 weeks (note that my blood pressure remained low on bedrest) and was induced at 36 weeks. but in the end, things never got worst and baby didn't need any NICU time or anything.
Second pregnancy, the same thing happened on top of other issues, but pre-e was mild and the least of the Dr's concern.
If your blood pressure is high at the next appt, you will need to do a 24 urine collection. If it's under 300, then you would be deem to have PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension), so they would just monitor your blood pressure to make sure it doesn't get too high (140/95) and may put you on meds. Over 300 is preeclampsia and most likely put on bedrest.
My BP is normally around 120/80 or so. It went a little higher than that and I had to do the 24 hour urine test twice, once around 30 weeks and once around 38 weeks and was put on bedrest at 38 weeks. I was induced right at 39 weeks because it was getting a little higher.
I had read when I was pg that eating one serving of dark chocolate a day can help lower blood pressure. It actually worked when I did it!
Thanks ladies for the reassuring. I took it today and even though it was 130/80 in the morning right now its 110/60. He told me to take my blood pressure throughout the day and at night. I'm hoping the spikes are just due to nerves etc. I don't have any protein in my urine or any other symptom. I'm really happy though he is being cautious. I rather be at home in bed then delivering early.
I just read in my pregnancy book last night that this month our blood pressure will go back up to where it was pre-pregnancy. So, if it's a little higher than it has been it's normal. I wouldn't worry about it unless of course it is really high, which yours wasn't.
I started getting signs later in 3rd tri with Mar, so we've been monitoring it closely this pregnancy.
I'd ask for meds before bed rest. Especially since just being stuck at home always made me worried/more anxious than just taking a pill every few hours.

My blood pressure is normally in the 100s-110s/60s as well. I have had a few spikes where it went up (I think I had one around 135/80 once) but it's always fallen, so I don't know if I can help much.... I might be a little worried if it's gradually going up and up, though.
