Interested to see replies. I was thinking about shredding some cheddar and giving it to DS. My friend's pedi told her anything is fine (including dairy) for baby except honey. I know lots of babies like cottage.
We started about 8 months and basically I just pinch up 1 slice of Borden sliced cheese and give w/ apples so it doesn't cause tummy problems. And we finally found that Yo Baby so we'll try that this weekend.
I usually give DD shredded cheese b/c it's easy for her to handle. She's had whatever we have on hand...cheddar, mozzarella. I've also given her slices of american cheese.
I didn't start cheese until she was probably 8mo old. I gave her YoBaby around that time too. I was a little hesitant b/c my brother had issues with dairy when he was a baby and I was afraid that DD might also. She's done fine with it though.
Just this past weekend I gave her whole milk in a sippy with her lunch. Obviously that's a ways away for you though.
DD gets cheddar, colby jack, feta, mozzarella, cream cheese. Otherwise we have given yogurt. I bought cottage cheese but we haven't given it to her since she is all about feeding herself and that just seems way too messy.
Re: If you give your baby cheese..
I've given him string cheese that I cup up into pieces. Kraft also sells packages of cubed cheese that have cheddar and I've given him that too.
He get's yogurt once a day now. I have yet to try cottage cheese, but that is only because I don't eat it myself.
we started dairy at 9 months
cottage cheese (she loves it), grilled cheese, shredded chesse, yogurt, cut uppieces of cheese -- she loves it!
