I took my LO to the pedi today for his 1 month appt and asked the pedi what type of water to use with powder formula and she said tap water was fine (city water). I asked if I had to boil it and she said no but I'm still a little iffy about this being that he's only 1 month. WDYT?
Also, I've been sterilizing his bottles and asked when I could stop doing that and she said I didn't have to do it. Just wash with soap and hot water? I always heard you had to sterilize for the first 3 months? WDYT about this also?
TIA!
Re: Is my pedi too liberal? WDYT?
Then I must be a liberal. I've always used tap water and just soap and water to wash bottles after the initial sterilization.
Ummm....have I been doing it wrong?
i only sterilized the bottles for the first use. then every week or so we'd throw them in the dishwasher on the "sanitize" setting. i don't think its necessary to sterilize them every time.
as far as tap water - we just use the water that comes out of our fridge - i guess it's filtered but nothing fancy.
We just use the dishwasher on our bottles. I don't like the tap water here (the complex we live in has old pipes that they are SLOWLY replacing) so use bottled water.
Maybe I'm "too" liberal as well because I already do the things he's saying you can stop doing.
This.
i've always read exactly what your pedi said... the bottles only need to be sterilized before the first use and then you can just wash them.
if you're concerned about using tap water, get a PUR water filter. it filters out more impurities than a brita.
