I'm scheduled for Friday, but obviously hoping to get some natural action before then.
At any rate, people keep trying to freak me out, and I just want to hear some successful stories of people that were induced and weren't driven to get epi's or ended up with c-sections.
My doc said she doesn't see me having a difficult time, because my cervix is at 70% and the baby's head is really low... but still... I'm a bit nervous.
What are they going to do to me?
Re: I need to hear some happy induction stories
I just wanted to wish you good luck. My story isn't the one you are looking for but it was still ok and I'd go through it over again in a heartbeat to get the result of my beautiful daugther.
I did get induced and ended up with a c-section. I went in at 90%effaced and 2cm dilated. Pitocin started at 11am Saturday. I startedc pushing at 10pm. She was born via c-section at 12:15am Sunday (Father's Day). She was turned sideways and couldn't get past my pelvic bone. Even with the c-section it was still a good experience. No matter what happens, it will all be worth it once your LO is here. Try not to be scared. It's really a beautiful experience.
Good Luck!!!! Can't wait to read your birth story, before you know it you will have one!
I had a VERY easy induction....went in Wed. at 4 pm was only a fingertip dialated but "VERY" thinned out per the doc, cervadil inserted at 6 pm, started getting more severe cramping (more than the BH I had been having for a month) around midnight or so, asked for the pain med at 2 am.
6 am pitocin started and was 3 cm dialated, water broke same time....Doc also gave okay to get Epi at that time, 7 am MAJOR contractions, Epi in after only 2-3 bad contractions....I basically just watched movies, snoozed a little and visited with DH and some friends until around Noon or 1 pm when I could start pushing....
Ryland was born at 2:23 pm! Quick and easy!
Good luck!
I had a great induction at 40 weeks 3 days. I was at 3 when I arrived, started pitocin at 930am, no real change or contractions until they broke my water at 330. I started pushing at 815 and met my beautiful daughter at 849pm!
They often get you to come in the night before to get the gel inserted. (I didn't need that because I was already at a 3). Once they start the pitocin they want you up and walking and will likely get you to come back every hour for an increase in the pitocin and a quick check on the monitors.
Good luck! You get to meet your little one soon!
My induction was so easy. I was induced at 39 weeks 4 days (for various reasons) with my dd who is my 2nd baby. I was already 4cm dilated and 50% effaced and head was very low. I started pitocin at 3:00 PM, had epi at 4:45, water broke on it's own at 4:50, baby born at 6:07 PM. Very easy labor...couldn't have been smoother.
Good luck!
I was similar to you, had my induction scheduled but was hoping to start labor on my own!
I was induced 11 days post due date and it went great. They started pitocin around 9:30 am, they had to break my water around 1:30 pm and he was born at 4:48 am! So, I guess my labor was around 20 hours, but that feels pretty normal to me....I did get an epidural, but I had planned on that from the beginning, so I don't know that the induction made me get it. I will say that once they broke my water the pain got pretty bad pretty quickly and I am not sure how I would have made it another 14 hours without meds. However, if you have your mind set on doing med-free birth, I am sure you could do it!!
There were a few times they took me off the pitocin b/c of reactions from the baby, but never once did anyone mention needing to consider a c-section. My doctor is fairly progessive and I felt like she wouldn't force me into anything.
I did have a tear, but nothing worse than any of my friends that went into labor naturally and no epi. So, overall I felt like my hospital/doctor really did everythiung they could to make the induction feel a little more like regular labor.
Thank you all for taking the time to share...
It's a confidence booster when all I keep hearing are horror stories!
I feel better now :-)
