I wish I didnt have to pump overnight, I could never make it all night. I wake up everynight between 2-3 and feel like I have 2 footballs on my chest.

  • These posts make me realize that my supply is so low.  I can go all night and still only pump a few ounces in the morning.  Oh well, some is better than none....

  • I don't pump at night, but i still feed LO 1-2 times per night.

I don't really pump much these days since LO is going through a growth spurt and seems to need to eat all the time.

I also think my supply is on the lower side.  Oh, well.

  • I pump about 6-7 oz around 10-11 pm and then wake up between 7:30 and 9:00 am and pump 10 oz. It took a few nights for my body to adjust to that and I had to pump around 3 am for those nights, but now it's not too uncomfortable in the morning, just feels a little full.
  • Damn, I'm so jealous! I pump at about 10:30-11 (2-2.5oz) and then pump again at 7-8am and get 5 oz It sucks! My baby is two mos old and supply is still this low.... I sometime pump in the middle of night - then I only get three oz
  • 5-6 oz around 10pm

    14-16 oz around 6am

Exactly this. My LO is eating every 2-3 hours now (more like 2 the last couple days) so I pump three times a day (morning, early afternoon and right before I go to bed. I then feed her the breastmilk at the next feeding.

I think it takes time for some women's milk to come in. I'm 12 days pp and I estimate (if the baby was not eating before I pump) that I likely would have about 60ml total from both breasts which I think is the 3 tbsp's mention on many websites. Taking Fenugreek in the form of More Milk Plus has really helped a ton too. She nurses for about 10 min per side then gets her suppliament (my milk was much less and she lost 11% of her bodyweight in the first four days).

  • i don't pump overnight because i don't want to have to get up and pump at night-

it took a few days for my body to adjust but now i wake up full but fine-

p.s. if your baby is gaining weight and you are ebf your supply is not low- your supply is only low if your baby has a problem gaining weight some people pump so much they are creating a massive oversupply which is why they then have to pump at night

  • My LO starting STTN about two weeks ago.  I pump after nursing her before going to bed around 10 pm and get 2 or 3 ozs. and then I pump immediately when I get up and get about 8 to 10 ozs. if she doesn't wake up with me and want to nurse.  I have gone back to work this week so now I am trying to juggle pumping while at work as well to not lose my supply.

  • Wait a second... are you ladies really saying that I don't have to get up in the middle of the night every night to pump? And I still won't lose my supply?? I felt super guilty the other night when my husband let me sleep through the night.. and I went like 8 hours without pumping.  I think I'm just terrified that my milk production will never meet DD's needs. We have had to supplement with formula since the hospital.

I don't think your supply is low - you just have a much younger baby than the previous posters.

My LO sleeps through the night and I don't ever pump in the middle of the night, but it sounds like a lot of these posts are from EP'ers, maybe? I do wake up several times a night feeling uncomfortable (like my milk has let down - which it does all day anyway - thank goodness for Lansinoh nursing pads), and I wake up very full, but DS just gets a good breakfast!
