Weight and Lexapro

Hi Ladies,

Did you gain weight on lexapro? Thanks for your help. Trying to figure out if Lexapro or Xanax xr is a better choice for me.

I did gain weight on lexapro, but I have been on Xanax XR before and I like lexapro waaaaayyyy better.

Thank you so much for your feedback. How come the Lexapro was better than the Xanax XR? It's strange how some make people gain weight. I have ocd and anxiety. Thank you again.

I had no weight issues while on Lexapro - didn't lose, but didn't gain either.

Thank you for your response. I hope I do not gain weight from the lexapro. Were you on it for a while. I heard weight gain could be more likely after 6 months. Thanks again.

I've been on Lexapro since October and have gained weight but won't totally blame it on the meds even though it would be easier to. All around that time I stopped breastfeeding, started consuming wine here and there again and to top it off after having my gallbladder removed it allowed me to eat all the wonderful fatty foods that previously sent me to the ER! The meds may have a bit to do with it but I think it's more my lifestyle at this moment. Lexapro did wonders for me and I do think it has done it's job for me. I have no experience with Xanax XR.

One thing I can say is even though I am no longer depressed, I have no motivation to lose weight which it not like me at all. I am talking to my Dr. about coming off the meds tomorrow.

I took Lexapro for 2 years and at the same time took Seasonale. I gained 40lbs during that time and quit both. Not sure which was worse!
