They are identical!!

It was confirmed today at our appointment that the twins are going to be identical. They are in separate amnio sacs, but are sharing the same placenta. Because of this, I will have an ultrasound every 2 weeks to watch out for twin to twin transfusion.

I also have to have a 24 hour urine collection and bloodwork to begin a baseline for pre-e. If I was just having a singleton, my chances of it reoccuring are less, but since its twins, I have a higher change of it coming back. Not really looking forward to carrying around a jug of pee in a cooler for 24 hours.

They are also having me do the glucose test early to check for GD. I enjoyed the drink with Katie, so I am looking forward to this. Ha! I know I'm in the minority here.

Tons of fun happening in our house! I have to complete everything above by my next apt on the 21st.

That'll be so fun! (The identical, not the pee in a jug.) I hope everything pre-e wise turns out okay, and it'll be fun to see the twins every two weeks.

That is so fun that they are identical! I sincerely hope that your pre-e doesn't return!! I guess the up-side is that you will get lots of ultrasounds and will be reassured a lot that the babies are developing properly. Good luck!

Awesome they are identical. You'll have to put bracelets on them or something so you don't mix them up. LOL I had to pee in a jug too and it wasn't fun. I also didn't mind the glucose drink-that's weird because I've never met anyone else who didn't mind it either. I'm so happy for you and keeping your family and new additions in my prayers!

That is awesome!!! Now it has me thinking about one thing, if you have identical twins, will they for sure be the same sex? Off to google identical twins, LOL! I am sooo happy for you all Becky! I also pray that all goes well b/c I know you had a rough end of pregnancy with Katie.

ETA: My DH told me that identical doesn't mean same sex always and when I looked it up he was semi right...it is rare but you can have identical babies of opposite sex. I always thought they were the same sex. Can't wait to find out if your DH is in trouble with 3 girls total or if you are going to be out numbered, LOL!! I am sooo excited for you all!!!

Wow, Becky! Glad all looked good today with the twins, and how amazing they'll be identical! Are you going to find out the sex?

I had to a 24 hr. urine collection after I was released from the hospital after Madelyn to confirm that the HELLP syndrome didn't further impact my liver functioning...yes, it's a big ol' pain in the rear, but you'll do fine.

I will keep you in my thoughts in the coming weeks! Hope you're feeling well.

Can honestly say that I don't know anyone with identical twins, how exciting!!

Everything else sounds like a big pain in the butt, but at least you won't be caught off guard like the first time if a problem exists.

Not good that you have to deal with the pee jug (hated that) or that you have to worry about TTS, BUT it will be awesome getting to see them every other week. That way you know they are doing well every other week! YAY!
