My friend who is pregnant just told me that is when she found out the sex of her son back in May. She is now 6 months and at that time she was 4 months. I have my NT scan on July 19 and I will be in my 13th week and I thought that was early to learn the sex. What have you heard or know about this? TIA

Re: Can you learn gender from NT scan?
your ultrasound tech may make a guess, but you shouldn't put too much stock in it, since boy parts and girl parts are nearly identical at this point.
My NT is Monday and I will be 13w exactly. I hope they guess, because it'd be fun to hear, but I know that the odds are probably only slightly better than 50/50 that they're correct.

Some techs will tell you (with a disclaimer that it's not nearly as definite as the big scan at 20 weeks). My tech would not.
But yes, I've heard of a lot of people find out the gender that early. GL!
I had mine at 13 weeks and they didn't attempt to guess.
Hopefully this means there's no penis and therefore it's a girl. LOL. Just kidding.
Life As We Know It: my Blog
At my NT scan, the ultrasound tech told us she is 75% sure its a girl. Since it's not definite, we haven't told anyone IRL that we know the sex yet.
We have a place in Houston that does gender testing through mothers blood work at 11 weeks.

Wonder how much they charge for that...

Both the ultrasound tech and the doctor seemed very confident that it was a boy for us because it was pointing straight up (with girls it is more horizontal).
My tech guessed for me. She said "girl, you're having a girl" very quickly. It was fun to hear especially since I have no "feeling" one way or the other. But I'm not going out and buying all girly stuff just yet.
One of my friends from college is an MFM and I asked her. She laughed and told me she won't let her techs guess.
Problem is, girls have an extra "appendage" this early as well. It's freaky how similar they look.
