There's a lot of discussion about this on the Natural Birth board, if you're interested!
There are a lot of different professionals who can deliver your baby - an OB, Family Practice MD, Certified Nurse Midwife, Professional Midwife, etc. They each have received certain training and have their various perspectives about birth.
It's really up to you and how you envision your birth - do you want a natural birth or are you okay with pain medication? Depending upon how you want to have your baby, different professionals will fit better for you.

Choosing your provider is an important decision that very well may have a big impact on your experience. I highly recommend this book--it provides lots of info to help you make this choice, as well as a variety of other choices that are part of your birthing experience!
