I had a discussion with LO earlier about joining the rest of us in the outside world. I promised that this heat wave would not effect him/her and that we have plenty of AC in the house. I also reminded LO that his/her Aunt would only be in town for a week so it would be lovely if she could spend most of that time getting to know him/her.
When my mom was in labor with me, after 23 hours of hard labor and they threatened a c-section, she had a talk with me about getting the hell out of her belly. It worked and I was born an hour later - I'm hoping the same works for me.....
Re: had a heart to heart with LO
I'd heard about that technique too. Babies do respond to our voices, and they know what we're talking about. I heard of a story of a pregnant mom who hadn't felt her baby kick at all the entire day and she got afraid. Anxious, she talked to her baby asking her to reassure her that everything's ok inside and the baby responded immediately!
And my MIL has been telling me that it's a good idea to try talking to our son a few weeks before due date telling him to get ready and come out on a certain date, and not make us wait/worry about him.
Whether they work or not, there's no harm in trying. It's a form of bonding and bring us that much closer to our bundle of joy.
I did this last night
I told LO that even though he is probably around 10 pounds, and is probably shy and insecure about his chubby cheeks - that we wouldn't make fun of him or call him a chubby bunny.
DH rubs lotion on my belly every night and tells LO that it's okay to come out now, that everything is safe and we will take good care of him. SO stinkin cute
