Just wanted to clarify...
If MIL uses normal detergents in our washer (tide, gain, etc), I can't use Rockin Green, right? Since it sucks until it cleans out the detergent residue? I'm not about to revamp her whole wash routine - I've already forced her to use plant based liquid softener or vinegar, and she's kind enough to not mind the diaper washing in our shared machine.
Re: Rockin Green = can't use other detergents?
Wait, really? So if you use say All free and clear for regular laundry and rockin green for CD's this won't work?
perusing the RNG website I found this:
"Do I need to do anything special if I am switching from another detergent? What about Tide?
If you are switching from a clean rinsing detergent, you may have little to no trouble switching to Rockin' Green. If you are using something like Tide however, you may experience some problems as the built up soap is drawn to the surface of your diapers. Even diapers that appeared to be clean before switching, may suddenly become stinky the first few washes with Rockin' Green. This is totally normal, and will improve with continued use. Some people may even experience rashes and repelling as the old detergent is being flushed out. To speed up the process, try Rockin' an overnight soak with 3 Tbs of Rockin' Green followed by several washes with nothing. Repeat the process until your diapers are fresh smelling again. "
this is what I saw that concerned me. Not really something I wanted to mess with since I have little control over what goes in my machine.
Ya, makes me wonder... I was "trying" Rockin' Green out and then was going to switch to something to use full time for all laundry cuz it's just easier, but I have still been using All Free & Clear on my regular cloths... hmmm.
This makes more sense. I might try the Hard Rock & see what happens.
lol and EW on the softener buildup! I'm glad my MIL doesn't do that to our machine.
This exactly. No where does it say that you have to use RockinGreen on all of your clothes. It just means that the first several loads you may experience some stink because the RockinGreen is focusing on removing the build-up from your diapers. After the first several washes though the stink should go away and you'll have really clean diapers.
This is what I'm encountering right now as I just made the switch from the bG detergent.
We use Purex hypoallergenic free and clear on all our clothes.
