Have you done any Old Wives Tale-type of gender guessing yet?

Some friends of mine did the "ring on a string" trick this morning. The ring started turning in a circle, so they've determined that the bean is a girl.

I think its a boy.

1. The heartrate was 138 (so under 140 is a boy)

2. I've been craving meat and cheese. Everyone I know who has had a girl craved fruit and I've not be interested in it all.

3. No morning sickness

The Chinese gender chart says I am having another boy. It was right with the first one as well as with all of my friends who have had babies in the last few years that knew the month in which they conceived.

I haven;t done any tricks like that but I had a hunch it was a girl...until we found out that we're having twins. Now I still think one is a girl but I don't know about the other one (they're fraternal twins).

Haven't done anything, but I am kind of thinking girl...

Last time at first I was certain it was a boy, then I got all analytical about it and figured it had to be a girl. We had a boy. I don't have any really strong feelings this time, so who knows!! I truly would be happy either way. I see pros to either one!

Haven't tried any of the gender predictor tricks, but DH is convinced it's a boy. I read in What to Expect that moms of boys tend to eat more, and I have had a crazy huge appetite since the BFP. I'm curious to see if DH's hunch is right!

All Chinese Gender Charts (the normal one that's more often wrong and the lunar calendar that has a better record) say GIRL. I also feel a lot different from the last pg, so I'm thinking girl, but I'm not saying that to anyone (except on here) and will just wait to find out in Sept.

Not trying to be rude, but how do you know this early?

Of course we don't 'know' but if you want details: The last time we BD'd was 3 days before ovulation and the boy sperm swim faster, but also die sooner once in the female body. The girl sperm are slower, but can live much longer once in the female body. So if it stayed alive three days in my body, we are banking on it being a girl.

I've only looked a the Chinese Gender Chart and it said Girl. I like to tease Hubs because at my age there are only three months that say girl. If I had O'd two days later we would have hit boy.

I'l probably do some of the others for fun later on. (But I'm not wasting money on intelegender-gag.)

I feel Boy. Chinese Gender Chart says Boy. The Angel reader friend of my moms says boy, and everything all of you have just said about having a boy is true for me. LOL we'll see in Feb.

My sister (only sibling) has 3 girls with one girl on the way. I have 2 girls...I was sick with both pregnancies, but not this one! I am tired, but really feel great! I am trying not to think either and just wait until the week 20 sono...its kinda hard when the whole fam is banking on me!

Last time I was convinced from the start that I was having a girl, and a good friend did the needle and thread test that said girl as well. Turns out I now have a DD. This time I feel just as strongly that I am having a girl again. Guess time will tell. As for the old wives tales--I have had severe fruit cravings both times and tons of m/s (which some say can be more common with girls).

Girls run strongly in my family. I know its the male that "decides" but we're pretty bossy women!

1. Baby's heart beat is 155 bmp = Girl

2. Chinese Gender Prediction Chart = Boy (although i just googled Chinese Gender Prediction charts and tried a bunch. 2 of them just said for my age and conception month it was Boy, 2 others said Girl.)

DH is thinking it's a girl... my maternal Great-grandma had a girl first, my maternal grandma had a girl first, my mom had me, a girl, first, DH's mom had a girl first and DH's sister had a girl first.

Honestly, I am not thinking it's one or the other yet. I just want a healthy baby. We'll see how I feel later on.

I truly have no idea. Chinese gender chart said girl (but if I O'd one day later than I think - it would say boy so that's definitely possible since I wasn't charting). I'm craving fruit more than meat but not really big on either right now. We haven't gotten a heart rate or anything yet so I can't go by that and its my first pregancy so I dont know how my symptoms compare. Boys are more prevalent in both of our families. I guess we'll find out in October.

I'm really thinking girl because my previous pregnancies were god awful throwing up all day everyday for 9 months. This time I've gagged a handful of times but feel great. Which of course freaks me out. The trend in our family is 2 boys and a girl so I'm HOPING that trend continues.

I have a feeling it's a girl. I'm not sure why, but I just do!
We just did the ring on a string trick the other day and it was in circles, which supposedly equals girl, and the chinese gender chart also says girl.

The Chinese Gender Chart says girl but DH keeps dreaming it's a boy so I am thinking boy. I secretly want a girl first though because I am the oldest girl and I like that dynamic.

This probably isn't the most reputable place to get info from (I mean, comoe on, it's the internet) however, this article debunks many of the "old-wives tales".

Also, I've been told several times that my heart rate was low so the doctors thought I was going to be a boy. Clearly that method is wrong.

As for what I think I'm having - the chinese gender chart tells me boy or girl depending on my "date of conception". If they mean date of ovulation boy - if they mean actual conception date girl. Take your pick.

Before I got pg I contacted the "baby psychic" she said boy.

The Shettles method can not be counted on for us b/c we BDed like it was going out of style. The girl swimmers could have already been hanging out there, the more "recent" boy swimmers could have gotten there faster.

My mom says girl. DH says boy.

Chinese Gender Chart said Boy for me. A lady I worked with said my face was changing and an old wives tail says that when your body and face changes so much - it is a girl.

I say girl for two, very unscientific, reasons -

1. My family and his family are both heavy on the boys, in fact I am the only girl in 2 generations on my dads side, and continue to be the only girl there, so how fitting would it be for me to have a girl.

and

2. DH is convinced and wants a boy so bad, he says it all the time. So much that I think this baby will play a trick on him and be a girl :-)

I'm thinking ours is a girl:

1. Chinese gender chart said girl

2. heart rate was 164 (higher than 140 is supposed to be a girl)

3. I've been craving sweet things like fruit snacks and sorbet - which I heard from a friend indicates a girl.

Of course I don't really think and of these determine the sex, but it's fun, especially since I'm hoping for a girl. Smile

We (DH and I) both think it's a girl. The hb was over 140, the Chinese gender predictor says girl, even the thought of meat makes me nauseous (all I've wanted is fruit and salads) and there's an old wives tale that says if you look "ugly" during your pregnancy it's a girl b/c she's stealing all your good looks lol. I definitely don't have that "pregnant glow."

My husband has 2 sons from a previous marriage, so I think it will be fun for him to have a girl. My MIL certainly wants a girl....lol

Chinese Gender Chart says Boy... DH would love to have a boy and the whole family is counting on it because he is the last boy with the family name. They don't want the name to end.

I have a strong feeling it's a girl though. I am not exactly sure why but I have just had this feeling that it was a girl.

We did the ring on a string and it said boy! So far we have done that on everyone at work and it hasn't lied yet. I work at an equine hospital, so sometimes for fun, we do it on the pregnant mares as well. It's not quite as accurate with the horses, but it's still fun to do!
