Re: clicky poll: snap and go or travel system

  • We did the Chicco cortina keyfit 30 travel system and have been happy with it. I really dont think the stroller is that heavy... no heavier than the carrier gets with baby in it. I've had no problem getting it in and out of the trunk of my Accord.
If I could afford both I might have gotten both. There have been a few times I wished we had the SNG but not often. But we decided travel system so we could use it when he is bigger too. We also really like that the travel system allows you to completely cover baby... SNG does not.
The other thing that decided for us is DH is tall and the SNG handle is pretty low, even sort of low for me.

  • With E, we had the Chicco Cortina travel system, and although it worked well when she was an infant, I wanted a stroller that was more lightweight and easier to maneuver once she got older.  We ended up with both a BOB and a Volo - using the Volo way more often.  To go back again, I would've bought the Snap 'n Go to use through her infancy and then done the research to determine what kind of stroller I wanted next.  We ended up selling the travel system on craigslist.

Get a stroller like the Bugaboo, City Mini, UppaBaby Vista that you can dock the carseat on and then use when she gets older.  Travel systems seem so bulky and SnGs don't seem easy to push around.

  • If you go the s'n'g route (which is what i voted for) i always recommend the Macalren Easy Traveler. it's so much more lightweight than the standard s'n'g and it folds in quarters, like an umbrella stroller, rather than in half. it also handles like a maclaren stroller.

i tested out several travel systems when i was pg for T and they all seemed bulky and too plasticy for me. i can say that 4 years later, i see my friends who had travel systems all now with different strollers or abandoning the travel system for something else. many of the TSs just didn't hold up well at all.

This is the one I have and I LOVE it!!  It's so light and easy to push, and I had the keyfit 30 carseat also, but didn't like the travel system with it.

The key fit is seat I'm looking at.

ok really dumb question here. How long do the kids last in this thing as a car seat?  When they don't fit in it anymore as a car seat do you flip over to a regular stroller?

We switched Mar over to a convertible car seat at 9 months I think.  Maybe 10.  By that age, they're able to sit up well, so you can just put them in a buggy when you're out shopping or use a cheapo umbrella stroller for the quick errands and/or a nicer lightweight stroller for when you're out.

ok so I'm cool to use a S'N'G type thing and carrier till around that time and then flip over to a different car seat and umbrella stroller
