We are on Day 2 and so far things are moving along well. Assuming Day 3 is even better, what comes next? The book says to keep the positive praise up for months, but I'm nervous about what we do when we go outside of the house.
What do you recommend for public restrooms? How many changes of clothes do we need to take with us? What about protecting the car seat from accidents? Any help is appreciated!
Re: 3day Potty Training - What comes after?
For the car seat with have the Piddle Pad by Kiddopotamus. I always see if she will "try" prior to leaving the house. Also, I have a travel toilet seat cover and also the paper seat covers so I can put those on the public toilets. If it is a long trip we also have a potty that we can take with us in the car if I needed to pull over for her to go.
Pretty much this exactly. And if I'm just running around town, I take 1-2 pair of underwear, and one pair of shorts....mostly because he still poops in his underwear (yup, this part of 3 day failed us). 92% of the time while we're out and about he stays dry, 4.5% is damp spots that he really could live with, 3% poop accidents and .5% is full blown accidents. I've only actually needed the change of shorts 2x now. But mostly he loves the control of making us run to the bathroom WHEREVER we are, so it's really not even a problem. Only time he'll really poop out and about is at a park or somewhere else he has freedom because he hides from me to go poop. Stinker.
Oh, and we just use one of those waterproof lap pads in the carseat/stroller. Works well, and first time I've actually found a use for them. Those have NEVER gotten wet. But just the same, I don't want the new stroller or the fairly new carseat wet JIC.
We've had no accidents in public. Although whenever we're planning to be out for a large part of the day, we bring extra underwear + pants/shorts just in case and usually leave them in the car or a pack we bring. No accidents yet.
So 1) try to potty before leaving, 2) try to potty while out
