Excuse me while I freak the f&^* out (long)

I've felt super nauseous for the past several days. This morning I woke up and had to run to the bathroom to throw up. The only time I've ever felt this way is when I was pregnant. I'm terrified of getting pregnant again. I did everything right prevention wise when I got pregnant with ds (I had an IUD).

I know it's probably irrational. I have Implanon (implantable birth control). SO and I had sex really early pp but I already had the Implanon in before we did the deed. I looked up Implanon on the Planned Parenthood to make me feel better by reading how effective it is. Well, they mention it is counteracted by drugs taken orally to combat thrush. Like the meds I took for WEEKS!

I haven't had a pp period but I know you can get pregnant before you have one. I did have some spotting a few weeks ago (several weeks after my pp bleeding stopped). I just calculated it and I could be 8 weeks pregnant.

How do you keep from freaking out about being pregnant when you don't have regular periods while bf-ing?

  • I'd take a test, and if it's negative, don't freak out.  If it's positive, take some time to freak out, then make a plan.  We're unexpectedly pregnant and I freaked out for a long time, but now I'm OK with it.  Anyway, no need to freak out until you know that there's definitely something to freak about.

  • POAS.  If you need a POAS pal, we'll have a board wide POAS party so that you don't feel so alone.

  • I would take a test asap.  I would hope that with BFing and BC you wouldn't be, but if you were, you'd want to know like yesterday :|

    Good luck :(

  • Take a test just to ease your mind.  I think I took two tests while EBFing because I was paranoid.  Turned out they were negative and I didn't get pg until my second PP cycle when DS was 19 months.
  • Well I keep from freaking out because we just don't have sex. Pretty much ever. ::Sigh::

But I think you should probably be POAS.

    Good luck.

    This, exactly.

Except I still freak out every once in a while. Okay, frequently. But far less frequently than I used to  :)

    ((((hugs))))) and soothing thoughts.

  • same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago...it turned out it was stress related nausea.

    breathe, then POAS

    good luck!

That makes me feel better. I'm going to take a shower and go get a test. I don't find buying a test embarrassing but buying a test with a 2 month old in tow? Yeah, that's awkward.

  • Definitely buy a test.  I never had any big scares, but I tested every other month until I got my first pp AF just because it made me feel better.

  • I again with what everyone else said but I think that if by chance you are pregnant, part of my plan would be to yell at the doc and pharmacist who put you on the med without telling you that your BC isn't effective while on this med.  It is their job to tell you these things especially your doc as they should have had all your info right there and looked or asked if you were on BC.
