I'm still concerned about Karlys weight. I weighed her last night and she weighs 23.2 pounds. Katie is 30.2. Just wondering what the average weight is. Thanks
twin girls after 43 months of TTC..
Katherine Emily (5 lbs 12 oz 19 1/4 in) and Karly Elizabeth (5lbs 7 oz 19 in)
!!My bio!!!!My Blog!!
Karly has always been smaller than her sister, so I wouldn't worry about actual weigth, but if she's dropped percentiles notibly.
It doesn't matter what average weight is, if she hasn't followed a 50th percentile weight.
I keep getting comments of "oh my shes still so little" and then I worry. My neighbor this morning said that her daughter (who is 6 months younger) was catching up to Karly and that it seemed like Karly hasn't grown. She's gained 8oz in the past 3 months. I just stress too much I guess but I was wondering if she's really all that small compared to other children.

DS weighs between 23 and 24 lbs, but he has always been small and I am not at all worried about it as he eats more than enough. Ihtink it is just how he is built. I was a sknny kid too. I'll ask my doc at the 2 year appt, but I doubt she will be concerned. Lately I have been seeing 4 month olds who weight 17 pounds....so I htink kids can just be all over the map for weight and it doesnt necessarily mean anything is 'wrong' :)b
Severe MFI resulting in IVF/ICSI #1 in Nov 2007. BFP!! Our beautiful son was born July 2008.
2010: 2 IVF's,1 FET = 2 BFN's, 1 c/p Feb 2011-Unmedicated FET= BFP!! DS #2 born Oct 2011!!.
I wouldn't be concerned as long as she is growing (which it sounds like she is). She has consistently been on the small side which is normal for some kids. My pedi said he's not concerned with numbers but rather the overall trend of growth. If her weight starts dropping then that might be something to worry about, but other than that I'm sure she's fine! People need to watch what they say to mommies!

How has Katie's weight gain been during this period? Is Karly more active than Katie? Does she eat the same food / same quantity? At this stage, weight gain really levels off, so don't panic if she'd not gaining much weight over a period of time. Take a look at some weight gain for age charts. That could make you feel a little better
We had G evaluated by a nutritionist, a physical therapist and his pedi when he was loosing/not gaining any weight. They recommended upping his caloric intake... but in a healthful way. Not to increase the junk food, but to add some butter to his bread, some olive oil in his food here and there. I can't get more food in him if I tried. He knows when he's done and I can't force more in him. It is what it is, and I don't want to give him an eating complex later on in life, so I'm taking the small size in stride.
My DS who is 18 months old weighs 30 lbs, but my niece who just turned 3 in June weighs 24 lbs. If the doctor is not worried, then she's probably fine.
Unexplained. IVF#2 worked! Beta at 10dp6dt = 154, Beta at 13dp6dt = 603
I have a feeling Megan is going to be just like Karly. She just turned 1yr and she was 17# 10oz. So by the stats, she didn't quite triple in weight by 1yr. She's always been somewhere between 3-5%. We tried upping her food but when it was all bottles she'd just spit up the difference. Now that she's onto solids, it's a challenge to get 2 good meals into her.
In your case, you have two very differently built children. If you only had Katie or only had Karly you wouldn't really think anything about either of their weights.
"Unfortunately" having two children already probably leads you to plenty of comments from the public. People are stupid and have no filters. It's like they don't know what to say, so they say something that they feel is completely innocent but it comes off in a hurtful way.
I agree with the other posters. If her doctor isn't worried about her weight, you shouldn't be either.
Hang in there momma. You are doing a great job with the girls!
My dd is 23 months and 21 lbs. She wears 12-18 months and we pray her jeans do not fall off her waist. She is in the 3rd percentile...has never moved out of the 4th percentile. She is very tall, though, 50th percentile, so she does not look as small as she actually is. We added carnation to her milk for a while but now I do not do anything special. She eats like there is no tomorrow, is active, healthy, pleasant, and well-adjusted. She meets all he rmilestones and actually has an extremely advanced vocabulary. I worried constantly but my pedi never did because she was CONSISTENTLY small....no real peaks and lows. It is hard to understand why, as I am average as my husband, but the world is made of all kinds. We do not have to buy clothes often, hope you get that perk as well!
Jack is (around) 25 pounds at 19.5 months - unless he has some huge growth spurt I really doubt he'll bust 30 by age 2 - he hasn't had a big weight gain in a while.
Wheee!
