What do you put in your wet pail?

DS is now big enough to use his gDiapers - yay!!! Today is day 2 and they are working GREAT so far. My question though is about using a wet pail vs just throwing them in a dry diaper pail? Do you just put water in the pail and throw the CD in after every change? I've heard of people putting vinegar, baking soda, bleach, etc. in with the water. What is best? Also, I just have a small pail with a step lid, similar to a garbage can type. Do I need to use any kind of liner with it? Thank ladies! I'm so excited to be starting CDing and look forward to being on this board more often!

I don't know why you are using a wet pail... the best thing to do is to just use a dry pail.

Like pp we only use a dry pail....never had any issues and it has been 19 months. GL

I would say almost everyone here uses a dry pail. Wet pails are dangerous . Just get a pail liner (like Planet Wise or Wahmies) and throw the diapers in it as a dry pail.

Ditto the PPs. Just use the can you have with a cloth pail liner.

We've been wet pailing it for the last 4 months, I use about 1/4c of vinegar in with the water. That being said, now that I have PUL at my disposal, I'm seriously considering making a liner and giving dry pailing a go. My big concern with dry pailing as always been odor issues, which we've never had with the wet pail.

My first thought with having diapers sit in a trashcan for 2-3 days was "holy stink!" but boy was I wrong. We wash because we're out if diapers, never because of smell. Also, the only diaper that is stained was due to a travel-sized wet bag we left in the car for 3 days after a trip to the city o_0
