Holding off on cutting the cord

We did this with both kids...not a very in depth article, but it gets the point across.

    We waited both times too.

    They kind of laughed about it at the hospital with Charlie (but waited as I had asked), but it is standard practice with my MW to wait. She actually prefers you deliver the placenta and then cut it

    Our childbirth instructor was really pretty passionate about this issue.. and really convinced DH and I that this is what we should do.. So we talked to my dr about it at our next appt and she basically laughed at us and told us it was nonsense.. I was a little peeved at the time, but knowing what I know now and didn't know then about my childbirth instructor... I kind of agree with my Dr. Well.. I won't say agree with, since I wish they'd be more open to our wishes.. but there really is not any evidence one way or the other..

    I read about it and was going to bring it up to my dr at my last appt but forgot.  And then I was going to ask him when he came in at 8am to start my pitocin for my induction, but by then I was already 8cm and all thinking had gone out the window.

    We did this as well and plan on doing it with the next baby due in October.

    we wanted to, but ended up w/ a c-sec.

    Telyco- didn't you have cs w/ Leah? They were able to wait while you were cut open?! I didn't know they could do that... my doc didn't even bring it up, but she was all for it w/ a vaginal birth.

    Yeah - she held off as long as she could with the c/s...I don't know if it was as long as with Evan because I couldn't see. I think the nurse held the baby after the cord was clamped while my doc went back to business.
