February 2011 Moms

aw: dropped 2 lbs..

in the past couple weeks i had gained 2 lbs which i know i should expect some weight gain during pregnancy but i already needed to lose 50 lbs prior to getting pregnant which i hadn't done.  this morning i got on the scale and the 2lbs are gone..

i've been trying to watch what i eat 9not always sucessfully) and i cut my meals smaller to make up for the increase in the times i have to eat each day.  today it paid off.. YAY!!

now it's off to TGIFridays to celebrate H's birthday.. there goes those 2 lbs..

  • Jennifer,

I've not even weighed myself so far.  I'm going into this somewhat overweight as well which for me, is totally depressing.  I hope I don't gain too much!!!

  • stacey- it's definately not easy.  i hate looking at the scale but it is more important now than ever to monitor my weight.  most my books seem to recommend 18-25 lbs of gain if you are overweight.

i've been trying to walk my dogs every day for atleast 15 minutes. i seem to fail more than suceed but i'm very proud of my small sucesses. just take it day by day.

I was overweight going into my first pregnancy (and still am going into this one as well). My doctor told me that he wanted my weight gain to stay around the 25 pound mark. One thing that really helped toward the end was something he told me early on. He said that when looking at weightgain, he does not really count any weight gain in the last month of pregnancy because it is almost all water weight. That was very reassuring when I had been holding steady at around 22 pounds gained and then about 4 weeks before I delivered I gained 10 pounds in about 3 days and it went up from there. My final weight gain was around 45 pounds but I know that last 20 was almost all water because when I got home 3 days after delivery, I was already down 19 pounds.

Don't worry too much about it. Watch what you are eating and make sure you are taking in good calories and getting the proper nutrients. Don't give into all of your cravings and you will be fine.

I hear you girl.  Andrew and I have been walking the dogs (Alaskan Malamute & Bloodhound) nightly to help combat weight gain but it's definitely tough to get motivated!  By the way, I noticed your picture of your dog eating ice cream.  I've been buying mine Frosty Paws which are ice creams especially for dogs.  Have you tried them?  They love them.

  • i'll have to check those out. the pup in the picture is a sheperd/malamute/husky mix, we also have a 9yr old alaskan malamute. every now and then we take them to the local icecream place for a baby cone. old man eats it in 2 bites, puppy takes forever

HAHA I'm a terrible dog parent.  If I go to McDonalds, I get them each a kid's cheeseburger (plain).  Lucy, the Bloodhound refuses to eat it unless it's cut up into bites and Molly will inhale it in seconds.  They crack me up.

You can get the Frosty Paws in the freezer section of the grocery store.

  • i'm going to check on those next time i go shopping.  i spoil my pups like crazy.  i hope i can keep it up after the baby comes.

have you started to prep the dogs for the baby? i've been using baby shampoos, powder and lotion so that they are both use to the scent. also youtube is great to play sounds of kids crying, screaming, temper tantrums etc.  neither one reacts to the sounds which is good.
