So I'm new to the IF world and wanted to get everyone's opinion of RE vsits and how your DH's handle the exams. My DH went in last time, had ridiculous comments to make through the entire process to keep it light and positive. He has been bery supportive so far. But when my RE had my lady parts up on the ultrasound machine, my doctor kepts saying "all those little dark spots" (my eggs). He must have said "dark spots" or "dark circles" about 10 times. So now my husband calls my lady business "The Darkness"! If we weren't trying to make a baby, he'd be going nowhere near 'The Darkness".
So does your DH crack jokes and act like a fool too? Or am I just the lucky one?! Does your DH even go in to your visits?

My DH went to the first appointment with me b/c he had to. Aside from that if he's there with me he usually waits in the waitingroom.
He did come to the IUI with me. He sat in a corner with his newspaper up covering his face. During the procedure I could hear him saying "Hmmm" while reading an article. It was kind of funny.

First of all, kinda funny.
One time when DH and I were "making babies" in the dark, he said that he felt like he was "making love to a black hole". . . .yeah. . .
They just don't think sometimes. But I love the man and love when he comes to my appointments with me.
Have you asked DH if he'll knock it off? Tell him it's stressing you out and that's bad for baby-makin'.

My DH goes with me to all appointments these days, unless it's just a blood draw.
We crack jokes in the car, but he's pretty quiet and serious during the actual appointments.
Maybe we are just wierd, we pretty much go to everything together (even regular yearly gyn exams). We are both medical people, maybe that has something to do with it. I like to hear what is said myself at his appts and I like him to hear mine just in case I miss something or dont remember it all...
He tends to be more serious and focus on the topic at hand, where I'm more of a make light of the situation/joker. I do that stuff when I'm nervous...maybe YH just has a lot of nervous energy to spout off?
You have to do what works for the two of you though...good luck!
