How long do you have to be on the pill before starting IVF?

For those of you whose Drs wanted you to take the pill first... Is ten days enough? I'm trying to see if I can get in for the July IVF group at my clinic, but it's closed right now.

My doc said the minimum was 10 days - that is what I did for IVF #3.

At my clinic it's 21 days. Pretty much, if you wanted to be part of the July retrieval group you would have needed to be on the pill by the end of May to be on lupron by the 16th of June, and then stims a week later.

Every clinic is different and obviously also depends on your specific protocol and whether or not you are cycling as part of a group or on your own.

Some REs don't do BCP prior to IVF.

My RE likes to do BCP for 21 days.

It really depends on how much they want to suppress you. I was only on BCP for 17 days for IVF #1 and my RE thinks that I wasn't suppressed enough which led to me having some lead follicles, which led to me having a lower percentage of mature eggs.
