Hi mommies! Nursing question

Hi ladies, I am popping over from 3rd tri to ask a question about nursing pads. My hospital suggests that I pack them for the postpartum bag, but I don't want to put the whole box in there. How many do you think I should pack for a potential four-day stay?

TIA for your input (:

Re: Hi mommies! Nursing question

  • your milk wont be in full force for a few days...pack maybe 3-4 sets, just in case. I have an oversupply and needed one pair in the hospital (stayed for 36 hrs)

  • hmmm...i didn't use any of those in the hospital.  didn't start leaking until milk came in a few days after we were already home.

  • I only put a set on for the last day of my stay b/c I wanted to use lanolin and not get it on my nursing bra. The rest of time I just wore the hospital gown with my robe over it.  No bra.
  • I packed them but didn't need more than one set until coming home and my supply came in more. I did use Lansinoh right away though because my nipples got so tender from feeding, so I reccomend bringing some and starting to use it right away. The hospital did not supply it for me, and I was happy I had it.

  • In line with the other replies, I just brought them so as not to get lanolin on my bra...that stuff stains easily!

  • For us, it was only colostrum while in the hospital. I didn't use nursing pads till I got home.

  • My milk came in full force in less than 24 hours and I went through a set every feeding.  I produce massive amounts of milk though.  For four days for myself I would recommend taking at least three sets for each day you think you will be there.  IMO it's better to be safe than sorry with leaky breasts.
