Xavian & I went to CVS this morning to get Saxton's meds. We were getting some of the 88c spices to make more taco seasoning & raqnch seasoning, when I hear a woman's voice proclaim that 'not only is hanging clothes outside trashy, but it's also embarrassing to see peoples unworn clothing. In fact, one of her neighbors uses her clotheline all.the.time., and she doesn't like to be outside when there are clothes flapping in the wind.'
I snorted, looked up too see if I knew the speaker, only to be beaten by Xavian's observation. "MOM! That's so&so's stepmom!" So it was. In fact, she just also happens to be my neighbor accross the street. Ha!
She looked at me, rolled her eyes, and left the isle. We met again at the checkout. She had some plastic grocery bags in her hand, full of her purchases. And I lept on that like a dog on a bone.
"Poison the earth much? Or is today a special day?" Then I turned to the cashier, handed her my bag & bagtag, "You know, CVS will even PAY you not to be trashy. You should try it!"
There was a bunch of snickering behind me, while she turned neon red and glared at me. Which egged me on. I couldn't resist adding, "You better hurry home before your husband mows the grass with the baby in his lap again. I would really hate to see the little guy hurt."
I admit, I was a really bad Christian, and probably didn't make her my friend, but, damnnit, sometimes ignorant people have to be put in their place.

Re: Hanging Clothes Outside is TRASHY
You're my hero.
But I will admit... I hate when my mom helps out with the laundry and hangs clothes off the deck or chainlink fence. :P
I just choked on my tea and I have tears running down my face!!!!
I think I will join you in your trashyness.

Good thing she does not live in England.
1. at most shops she would have to ask for plastic bags as they are not just offered anymore.
2. Everyone and I mean everyone hangs clothes out, mabybe the Queen doesn't but just about everyone else. In the five years since I moved for the US I think I have used the dryer part of our washer dryer combo 3-5 times and that has been when it has been raining for days on end and even on racks inside my clothes would not dry.
::runs in and hi-fives thejennigirl for the awesome response::
Now I hope I have the balls to say something like that should the opportunity ever arise.
High five.
And this.
*brings a fresh load of laundry in from the line*
