I was just told that I have this last week and I am having such a hard time with the diet. Food and eating are now a chore for me. Does anyone have suggestions for things I can eat that will feel like I am induging even a little?

Re: GD ... the diet is killing me
My dietician said I could eat pretty much whatever I wanted but as long as I am within the carb range, I am doing what I need to do. For example, I would eat a cookie and have some protein with it. You will find your body can handle certain carbs over others. The point is not to starve yourself of carbs so you can avoid medication. I did this with DD and it was not good for me and the baby. With this one, I was within the carb range but still needed insulin. I am okay with that as long as the baby is okay. Here are my guidelines:
Breakfast and Snacks: 30 grams
Dinner and Lunch:45 grams
Snacks:
Apple with string cheese
Low carb tortilla with 1/2 banana and peanut butter'
Flavored Almonds with fruit or juice
Greek Yogurt with honey or fruit on top
i had been going really low carb to keep my sugars in line and finally decided that I'm going on insulin so that I can have flexibility. I figure it's just temporary and worth it for 5 more weeks. Plus, I wanted to make sure my babies are getting all the nutrition they need. Some snacks that work for me even without insulin are South Beach Cereal bars (with protein) and they are like my dessert now, sugar free Jello, jello mousse cups, greek yogurt (sometimes spikes my sugar), peanut butter and crackers, some lower carb natural frozen juice bars
Having protein with carbs definitely helps.
Breyers has an ice cream bar that's 18 or 19 carbs, I've been having one of those for my evening snack (with some sort of protein as well). It's nice to eat some ice cream and have it fall in line with the diet. When we went to the movies a few weeks ago we found some Newman's Own peppermint chocolate cups that were under 20 carbs for the whole package, so I had those (again, with a protein) as my evening snack.
