CDs leaking out back overnight

I'm waiting on some inserts to arrive, but in the meantime I've been using the AIOs we have (Fuzzibunz, BG 3.0, and Thirsties) with an organic prefold for overnight.  Some nights we do okay.  Other nights she wakes up soaked up her back.

Is this just gravity working or can I do something differently to help prevent this?  I thought about using a Thirsties Fab Fitted and covering it with an AIO....do you think that would work?

Thanks!

  • I think it is just gravity.  AIO's aren't great night diapers - you'll most likely have better luck with a pocket or fitted.

  • Do you mean pocket diapers?  Fuzzibunz are pockets, and the OS BGs are pockets.  They don't work well for us overnight, either.  We get leaks up the back or front, or out the legs.  So we switched to fitteds and wool - works much better for us!

Sorry...yes, I meant AIOs & pockets.  Do you use an insert or anything else inside the fitted?  Or does the wool work well enough that you don't need to?

  • She might need more absorbency. We had some back leaking problems until we found the right combination of inserts to give our LO enough absorbency.  We used to use a PF with a hemp insert, but now we use three hemp inserts, and we haven't had any leaks.  I ordered some Super-dos, and I can't wait to get them and try them!  LO sleeps through the night and then some, so she needs maximum absorbency.

  • We also got leaking out the back overnight before using more absorbent inserts.
