I guess he couldn't take it, he called poppy (dh's dad) and got him to buy him a bus ticket home for July 8th. We didn't know until after the ticket was purchased and SS left a note on dh's car seat.
I am happy to have one less adult/kid in my house, but also sad that he gave up. He was on a good track and will no doubt fall apart when he goes back to his podunk town. We pushed him pretty hard to be active and find a job. He lost a lot of weight already, but wouldn't budge on the job thing. He actually told dh that he didn't come here to work! lol
He says that no one called him back for an interview but we don't buy it.....you fill out 30+ applications and NOBODY calls? Jobs are tough to come by, but not that tough! Especially when your looking for PT work as a cook, busboy, etc.
It was a real different lifestyle here, our home is clean and your expected to clean up after yourself and help out. We work and do family things, we don't put up with texting 24/7 and playing xbox all day with butt stuck to couch. Dh had to tell him to take the car and go to the gym....I bet he went and sat in the parking lot for an hour (texting)! lol Weight loss mentioned above was due to lack of crap to eat, he doesn't eat healthy things so his calorie intake was greatly reduced!
Dh all in all is pretty upset, he wanted to reconnect with is son. However I think it will be for the best as we can't retrain an 18 yr old......hopefully he does go into the Navy soon and a drill sergeant can retrain him!
Re: SS is going back home!
While I'm sad for your DH and step-son that it didn't work out.. I am relieved for you.. Like you said.. you can't "retrain" him.. There is only so much you can do. Hopefully he does get into the Navy.. It would likely be good for him.

At least he left on his own and it wasn't like you guys threw him out. But if he couldn't take your house, how would he do bootcamp, haha?
