If you had a D&C -- need advice for friend... ASAP

DH's BFF's wife had a D&C on Monday and she is not doing to well with it. She said she is still bleeding and wonders if this is normal. I had a natural m/c so I am not sure what to tell her to expect...

HELP!

ADDITION: She was 13w when she had the D&C.

Some bleeding is normal. If she's having lots or passing clots, she may want to talk to her doctor. Mine called in a prescription for something to help my ute shrink down quicker. It caused some cramping, but stopped the bleeding.

I had off and on bleeding for a few weeks. Eventually it just turned into spotting for a while. It was never really heavy, just some here and there.

I had some bleeding/spotting for a close to a week after both of the D&Cs. Also, there is usually a follow up appointment a few weeks after the D&C.

I bled for almost 2 weeks with my D&C. It was heavy for about a week, then spotting after that. My dr said that was normal. I was having other symptoms such as a lot of pain and a low BP. I was found to have a really bad infection. If she is having problems, I would call her dr. There should be some one on-call. I hope she feels better soon.

I mostly had spotting after my D & C. It only lasted for a couple of days, but I also had the meds that make your uterus shrink and cramp...that medication is supposed to help with minimizing the bleeding.

I had 2 D&C's and my ob said bleeding was okay unless you bled through a pad in less than an hour. So if she is bleeding enough to have to change a pad every hour or less, definately call.

I told her what you all said and she said if it doesn't get lighter by Monday she will call. She isn't having any clots or cramps though.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I just wish I could be there and give her a big hug, but he is stationed in South Carolina and we're in California.

As long as she isn't passing huge clots, or isn't in a ton of pain, it's probably okay. But she should run that by her doc, for sure. Better safe than sorry.

I bled off and on for two weeks. I think the rule of thumb is that bleeding through a pad in an hour or less is something to worry about.

I had a D&C and I had very minimal bleeding so I am no help. But I am so so sorry for your friend and am sending T&P her way.
