1. How long does it take you to rock DC to sleep?
2. Can you transfer him/her after? Does it take more than one attempt?
It just seems like it takes forever to get DD down. She rocks to sleep fine, but it takes 2-3 attempts to get her to transfer, so I end up taking 40 minutes to get her to sleep for naps and bedtime. Are others having this issue? Not sure what else I can do, but wondering if others are experiencing this.

This...I rock her, but like PP said once I think she is asleep I will rock for an extra 5-10 min. before putting her down.
1. Anywhere from 5-20 min. Depends how tired she was to start with.
2. Yes. Usually only one attempt. Sometimes 2.
I found the key is making sure she is REALLY in a deep sleep before I attempt the transfer. I can tell b/c she spits the paci out & her breathing is deeper & regular.
Edit: Also, we double swaddle her at night w/ two Aden & Anais blankets. When she's in those it goes quicker.

Girl you have a good baby. Enjoy and keep up the drowsy but awake approach... you, my friend, have a great little sleeper on your hands! Jealous!
I got a handout from my pedi about sleep and it says on it that it takes newborns to 3 months 20 minutes to fall into a deep sleep where they're less likely to be startled awake.
My DD does that sometimes too, but I do the arm test- when I'm holding her, I pick up her arm. If she pulls it back, she's too awake to put down, but if I pick it up and its limp, I can easily lay her down without her waking up.
