Virtua vs. Cooper University

My DH and I are trying to decide where it would be best to deliver and OB to go with. Could anyone offer any suggestions for an OB or which hospital to go with? I live in Marlton, NJ. I am 7 wks, and am currently seeing a doctor at the cooper institute, but they discharge me at 10 wks, so I need to find an OB asap. Any help would be great, thanks!

Re: Virtua vs. Cooper University

  • i went to garden state ob/gyn and delivered at virtua voorhees..I was happy with both..i was a high risk pg and the OB's office was always on the ball with my care and always receptive to questions which was important to me

  • Virtua Voorhees was awesome!  I go to Magness & Stafford on 561 in Voorhees.  They're fantastic.  I'd highly recommend them.
  • I've seen Cherry Hill OB/GYN (in Mt. Laurel) for both pregnancies, with delivery at Virtua. I absolutely adore all of the OB docs in their practice, and was very happy with our delivery experience.  For high-risk, they partner with the Maternal Fetal Medicine department at Virtua. I've only met Dr. Libbrizzi there so far, but was very happy with him.
  • I will put my vote in for Women's Health Associates.  LOVE the practice, they have an office right next to Virtua Voorhees.  I delivered at Virtua and it was a fantastic experience.  At one point during my delivery my son's heart rate dropped, they called my doc, who was next door at his office.  He literally ran across to the hospital to check on me.  One other realyl nice thing, they are usually right on schedule, no horrific waits and if they are running late, they make you aware and are really apologetic about it.
  • I highly recommend Pinelands OBGYN in Mount Holly/Medford. It's a little farther but it's worth it. All the DR's are spectacular.  You will ALWAYS see a familiar face when you deliver. They pretty much run the L&D floor at Virtua Memorial Mount Holly where they deliver at.  (One of their docs is the chief of OB there).

I really liked Memorial Mt Holly because ALL of the rooms are private.

  • I was very happy with Cooper and the Cooper Faculty practice. Outstanding care, doctors are amazing, nurses at Cooper went above and beyond any expectation I had. Happy to be going there again for #2!
  • Hi- I'm also at Cherry Hill OB/GYN with likely delivery at Virtua Voorhees. How was your experience at Virtua Voorhees? Might sound stupid, but one of my biggest hospital fears is being stuck with a roommate after delivery. I saw on the website that they can't guarantee a private room, which freaks me out. I'm a very private person, and don't want others' family members traipsing through my room when I'm trying to recover and attempt breastfeeding, nor do I want to be woken up by someone else's baby when I'm trying to get some sleep. Did you have to share a room at any point? What are the odds of getting stuck in a shared room there? I'm only 8 weeks along so I'm due in January. Thanks!!
  • seachelle417 - I feel EXACTLY as you about sharing a room after delivery.  I'm not a fan of hospitals as it is and am a super private person.  I plan to breastfeed and have my baby room in so I'm hoping whoever I must share with  has somewhat of the same plan or at the very least a little respect as it's only a 48 hour stay.  I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I get my own room!

  • Figures I'm missing out on delivering in their new hospital by just three months. My doc said all the rooms at the new place will definitely be private. I had my first appt a few days ago and asked about it...supposedly it's rare to have to share, but I'll believe it when I see it. Hopefully since I'm due in the middle of the winter, they'll be even more able to keep things private, given the flu going around that time of year.

Good luck with your delivery! I see you're a lot closer than I am! :)
