Carter's vs Gap sizing/fit

DS is 6.5wks and 13.5+lbs. His Carter's 3mo sized clothes have maybe a week or 2 left in them. I have noticed I exclusively favor Carter's stuff when they are this little; the stuff wears and washes so well! So because I only have Carters stuff to compare to, I need to know how Gap stuff compares.

If you have both brands of clothing in your DCs closet right now, which sizes fit?

Re: Carter's vs Gap sizing/fit

  • On Gap's website, people rate the items... including if they fit "true to size" or not. That might help you too!

  • I think they are about the same.  DD is the same age as your son, but about 11.5 lbs.  She fits into the 3 months carters stuff pretty well and wears 0-3 from Gap.  Both seem to be about the same fit.  Not sure about the next size up, but the smaller sizes seem to be quite comparable.

This.  I haven't noticed a difference between the 3M Carter's or 0-3 Baby Gap clothes.

  • they're cut about the same so your LO will likely wear the same size in both brands.  some of landon's gap things seem a little bit wider to me, though so they fit "baggier".

  • I have found they run about the same. However- Old Navy runs a lot smaller!
  • I find Carter's does wash a bit better than the Gap clothes at times- less shrinkage (I wash in cold h2o).
