how long do you feed for?

I am just curious as our son is 2 weeks and he takes 1 boob for 10 minutes, then fusses and 20 minutes later, he will take the other one for another 10 minutes. is this normal?

    My lo was like that at 2 weeks too. I finally figured out that it took him that long to work his burp out even if I was patting his back the whole time.

    Now he is 4 weeks and he pretty much will do 15 on one side and then be done for a couple of hours.

    I am really glad you asked this question!!  I was wondering the same thing!  My daughter is 2 weeks and generally eats for 20-25 minutes on one boob.  She generally is done for 2-3 hours.  However, the lactation consultant at the hospital said a feeding should last 30-45 minutes.  I was worried she wasn't getting enough.

    My DD spends about 15 minutes on each side. Sometimes she will fall asleep after the first side but will usually wake up between breasts when I burp her.
