More calories/fat for baby

DS has always been on the tall and skinny side.  And while he appears healthy and happy, I determined based on his last weight check about a week ago that he has pretty much fallen off of the charts :(  He is hitting his milestones and seems to be developing just fine.  He has chub rolls and such too; he's just skinny.

It's hard for us not to worry.  He is BF (and hasn't dropped any nursing sessions since starting solids; he also nurses before solid meals and sometimes right after), eats oatmeal mixed with frozen BM daily, and loves most fruits and veggies that he has tried, although he hasn't fallen in love with avocado yet.  I also plan to introduce yogurt this week.  I've been doing more purees than the BLW route because I figured I would get more food in him that way and he likes to eat.  When I give him steamed bits or sticks of things he mostly plays with them.

Does anyone have some ideas for new foods I can try or things I can do to bulk up what he is already eating?

Thanks!

  • I think he's old enough to try all the meats too.  that should give him a lot of fat and protein.  And also around 8-9 months, he can start table/finger food (potatoes, chicken, beef, etc...)

  • I can't remember when I started DD on whole milk yogurt, but I think that helped her gain some weight. I usually buy yobaby or the Stonyfield Farms with the cream on top. You can stir in your purees with the plain too if you want.

  • Thanks ladies! I added yogurt today (he seemed to like it) and will introduce meat this weekend.
