Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ???

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

she's about 7.5 months old, give or take

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

she pulled herself up to standing this last week! so exciting. can't wait until she figures out how to cruise now :)  (though watching her is becoming a big challenge now that she's sooo mobile!)

she also made her first trip to disneyland and had a good time looking at all the people and going on a few rides

ETA: i forgot she also climbed a step for the first time this week! haven't tried her on the stairs but there is a step up from my parents' living room and she totally crawled up and over it!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

    9 months

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

dealing w/all the unsolicited advice from my family/relatives

having her schedule all messed up b/c she's over tired b/c she can't nap when she usually does due to all the things we're doing and people we're taking her to see (great grandparents etc)

    (5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include?

we did maternity and nb shoots.  our pkg included the maternity session, newborn, 3 mos, 6 mos, and 1 yr as well as birth announcements, several prints, a photo collage, and a flush mount album. i googled newborn photographers in my area, then looked at their portfolios to narrow it down to a short list, then asked a few people for their input and picked her that way

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery? Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that?

it was DH and my mom. we didn't plan for my mom to be in there but the L&D room was bigger than i thought it would be and she was off to the side and out of the way so we didn't ask her to leave. my ob made an exception and allowed her to stay, too.

    (7) Mamas: Did you have the baby blues or PPD? How did you cope with it? How long did it last?

i had a bad case of the baby blues...i think it started around 1 wk pp and lasted until 2.5-3wks pp. it helped to talk to other ppl who had been through it and as my hormones leveled out i felt better

    (8) Mamas: If you are BFing, what sort of "diet" did you follow for the first 3 months or so? Any foods you avoided or ate more of to try to increase your milk supply?

just prenatal vitamins, LOTS of water, and eating all the time. i didn't really diet or eat anything special. just tried to consume lots of calories (though that didn't always happen b/c i was so busy trying to adjust to a newborn's schedule the first few weeks)

  • inamrainamra member

    (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    6 weeks old!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

I'm tired! But otherwise, pretty good overall.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

    2 month check-up in 2 weeks!

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

Traveling with an infant! It took us 14 hours to drive from Tahoe to SD =P

    (5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include?

We just did amateur shots ourselves to save $.

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery? Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that?

Just MH. Nope, didn't have anyone else expecting to be in there.

    (7) Mamas: Did you have the baby blues or PPD? How did you cope with it? How long did it last?

Yup, bad case of the baby blues. I kept crying about all sorts of things and it didn't help that I had family drama going on too. It lasted from a couple of days after labor until about a month pp. I talked it out with my cousin and MH. Getting more sleep would help but it was hard to do that with the baby.

    (8) Mamas: If you are BFing, what sort of "diet" did you follow for the first 3 months or so? Any foods you avoided or ate more of to try to increase your milk supply?

I ended up on my mom's diet for about a month--lots of ginger, pig's feet (ended up being on the menu when I had thought it wouldn't be), chicken soup, some herbal stuff, etc. The pig's feet is supposed to increase milk supply. I'm not sure if it did or not, but I was happy eating her foods because it meant I didn't have to cook =) But overall, I am back to normal diet, except I try to eat organic when I can and I don't drink as much tea as I used to (I never drank coffee or alcohol pre-pg anyway). I also try to avoid broccoli b/c I heard it causes LO to become gassy. I don't do much for my milk supply except making sure I get enough fluids and calories.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    Almost 3 months

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

We experimented with removing the swaddle for nighttime and the first two nights were awful. Things have been really good since the third night, though! I'm glad we didn't give up on it. He's also outgrowing that fussy funk of the past few weeks, which is SUCH a relief. I was starting to dread taking him out and really fear the sun going down....

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

    4 months

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

Dealing with the swaddle thing... but I think we're learning that you just have to be consistent and they can often adapt.

    (5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include?

We couldn't see paying the high prices for them, so DH did them and they turned out awesome. He was able to research how to do those cool blacked-out photos and other cute newborn poses. We're planning to take them every 3 months like the pros do.

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery? Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that?

There weren't any rules about it, but I just wanted it to be DH and the doula. My uncomfortable uh-oh was when MIL walked in right after baby was delivered, but I was still being worked on. DH and the nurses took care of the situation, but it would've been nice if there was more security to keep people out until we were ready for visitors.

    (7) Mamas: Did you have the baby blues or PPD? How did you cope with it? How long did it last?

I kept baby home for 6 weeks and that was really tough. I tried to get out every few days, but recovery made it hard to enjoy that time. Once I was healed and started taking him places, my mood improved tremendously and I felt like a normal person again.

    (8) Mamas: If you are BFing, what sort of "diet" did you follow for the first 3 months or so? Any foods you avoided or ate more of to try to increase your milk supply?

Prenatals and a generic "healthy" diet. I was always starving for the first few weeks, but now my appetite is mostly back to normal. I experimented with oatmeal and really think it worked... I'll eat it every now and then when I need to boost the supply.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 10 weeks old today! We're in double digits!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Well, I just started my period today. First one since the pp bleeding stopped...actually, I think it's 4 weeks to the day since that bleeding finished. Wonder if that means my body is already back on schedule (I think it might be, since I'm fairly certain based on CM and cramping that I ovulated about a week and a half ago).

Oh, and I started going to a mother's group thingy today - it's 6 weeks of meetings put on by a local family health group. Just a way to meet other mothers with similar aged children, and they bring in experts to talk about child development stuff, caring for yourself post-partum, etc.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Still need to make one to have my Mirena put in...especially if my cycles are starting up again (this may sound bad, but I would be DEVASTATED if I got pregnant again - I'm sure I'd get used to the idea eventually and of course would love the baby, but I do NOT want another child ever, let alone right now!).

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? The boys are starting to pay attention to each other, which is cute - they look at each other now, coo, etc. However, they've also started sympathtic crying, which is making me craaaaazy! One will be upset and start crying, then the other will look over and start crying too, even though nothing is wrong. Ugh! Oh, and it's been effing freezing and most houses here don't have central heat, so that's been loads of fun. Sad

    (5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include? Nope and nope - it just wasn't in our budget, unfortunately!

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery? Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that? Mmmmm. MIL stated her intention to "walk the corridors" while I was in labor several times. I firmly nixed that idea and told her the only person who would be present was Ben and that I didn't intend to even tell anyone that we were at the hospital until after the babies were born. After that she changed her tune and loudly declared she never intended to be there anyway. Yeah, sure..

    (7) Mamas: Did you have the baby blues or PPD? How did you cope with it? How long did it last? Hmmm. I wouldn't say I really had the blues, but I had a hell of an emotional rollercoaster for about the first week from the hormone withdrawal. Holy hell it was crazy - and it didn't help that I was sick (the epidural headache) or stressing like crazy about BFing. I cried so many times every day...I remember on day three after the boys were born, I was sobbing hysterically and a nurse came in and looked at me for a moment, then asked how many days pp I was. When I told her three, she nodded and said that in her experience the third day was the worst for most people, so just hang in there. I know it sounds silly, but I appreciated knowing that - it made me feel less crazy lol.

    (8) Mamas: If you are BFing, what sort of "diet" did you follow for the first 3 months or so? Any foods you avoided or ate more of to try to increase your milk supply? I tried all of the galactagogues like oatmeal - didn't help, but they're all pretty healthy. Smile I also ended up avoiding broccoli because the one time I had it, my poor boys got the WORST gas afterward (if it was just one of them I might have thought it was a coincidence, but because it was both I blamed the veggie). Otherwise, just general healthy eating. Oh, and avoiding excessive caffeine, that kind of thing.
  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? almost 8 months

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Let's see, just got another tooth breaking through last night (upper left front), is trying DESPERATELY to sit up on his own - he did it once last night!, is commando crawling very quickly, and eating puffs!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? 9 months, although we are calling the developmental specialist about his pretty bad separation anxiety, so it may be sooner!

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? separation anxiety, raspberries during eating

    (5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include?  We had a friend of MH's, who has a professional camera and was a photography major (but is going back to school), come over and take some pics before Christmas. It wasn't like the newborn pics you see on the web though, just normal pictures.

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery? Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that?  Luckily the H1N1 scare took that option away; DH was the only one allowed in.  I was actually thankful I didn't have to deal with it.

    (7) Mamas: Did you have the baby blues or PPD? How did you cope with it? How long did it last? It was pretty bad the first couple of weeks - then again, I'm not sure how much of it was sleep deprivation.  But I battle depression as it is.  I have a friend whose PPD didn't show up until her son was 6 months old, though, so just because you're far away from delivery doesn't mean it isn't PPD.

    (8) Mamas: If you are BFing, what sort of "diet" did you follow for the first 3 months or so? Any foods you avoided or ate more of to try to increase your milk supply?  I only BF for a week, so nothing in particular.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 4.5 months

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?Jack is doing great!  he is totally on the move.  he purposely scoots and rolls towards toys or books and he can get there FAST.  a strong effort to babypoofing needs to start.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? nothing coming up.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Jack has turned into the most distracted nurser ever.  If someone so much as talks while he is eating he has to stop and look around.

    (5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include? no interest in maternity pics.  Went to Sears for newborn pics.  $150 for a CD of all images (so I could make birth announcements) and tons of prints

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery?Just DH

Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that? nope, my fam was totally respectful (my mom actually recommended just DH and I).  IF the ILs lived here they may have been an issue because SIL always invites the whole fam (even aunts and uncles) for the labor part (she is always induced with an epi - so that probably makes a lot of difference, for me I was there to WORK and get that baby out, not throw a party) and she had her DH, her mom and her MIL in the room for delivery.  So I think they would have expected the same.

As it is the fact that we bonded for an hour before calling anyone had them beside themselves with worry - even though we told them to expect it.

    (7) Mamas: Did you have the baby blues or PPD? How did you cope with it? How long did it last? nope.

    (8) Mamas: If you are BFing, what sort of "diet" did you follow for the first 3 months or so? Any foods you avoided or ate more of to try to increase your milk supply? nothing special, I eat organic as much as possible, drank TONS of water, and take fish oil.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  36 weeks, 3 days....just shy of full term!  :)

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  I'm feeling pretty good, though I wake up every day with an incredible amount of anxiety.  I've been working from a to-do list of things I want to get done before he arrives, and I only have two things left (yay!).  I'm getting really nervous about the whole thing.  Surprisingly, not as nervous about the actual delivery as I thought I'd be (I'm sure that'll change, though!), but more nervous about having a newborn relying on me from now on.  I need to just relax!!

I did just get back my Strep B results, and they were negative....yay!

Oh, yeah!  And as of Monday I'm 1 cm dilated, 60% effaced, and at station -2.  Not getting too excited, since I know I can easily be here for weeks, but that's pretty cool!  :)

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Next Monday.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?  Just dealing with own anxiety about the whole thing.  I'm sooo excited to be a mommy, and am looking forward to it, but also have a ton of anxiety these days.  I just want to do it "right,", you know?

    (5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include? No maternity photos except MH taking a casual side shot once in a while.  I didn't see the need.  While I think they're beautiful, what would I do with them?  I certainly wouldn't be hanging them on the walls.  It would just be to chronicle the journey, which MH can do just fine!

We are planning to have a newborn shoot, though.  I found a photographer who is very inexpensive (she just starting up, and works from her apartment), ad I love her work I've seen.  It's only $95 to get a CD of the images (no prints), which is just what we want.  We'll print a few for the hallway, then make birth announcements.

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery? Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that? Just MH.  My sister will probably come when she can (she's about an hour away), and I don't mind if she comes in the room during labor, but not the delivery.  She has no desire to be there for the delivery anyway (she even thought that ultrasound pics were gross!), so that's no problem.

Both my parents and MH's are all 5 hours away, either by plane or car, and that's assuming they'd leave right away (which they probably won't), so we're assuming they'll miss the birth, and come the next day or so.  I made it very clear from early on that they are not invited to the actual birth, anyway, and I don't think anyone had a problem with that.

    (7) Mamas: Did you have the baby blues or PPD? How did you cope with it? How long did it last?  Not a mama yet, but I will say that I' veeeeery worried about this!  Depression runs in my family, and I'm an emotional person to begin with, so I worry about how my body will deal with the hormones.  We'll see, I guess!

    (8) Mamas: If you are BFing, what sort of "diet" did you follow for the first 3 months or so? Any foods you avoided or ate more of to try to increase your milk supply?

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

Elaine is 2 years and 9 months.

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

We're getting ready for the big move!  Elaine keeps talking about when we move to "Ha-wi" as she calls it.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

Yesterday we had our final overseas clearance.  The doctor signed off on everything (which we knew they would, because neither of us is sick) and hopefully DH will get orders soon, so we can start packing.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

Accidents.  Even though she has been potty trained for months, Elaine has had quite a few accidents this past week.  I think she just gets so wrapped in playing or eating that she forgets to stop to use the bathroom.  I am just going to have to remember to remind her more.

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery? Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that?

We didn't have this problem, because we live far away from all of our family.  My mom and sister started the drive to Maryland (where we lived at the time) from Ohio as soon as I went into labor.  I had DD 12 hours later and my family showed up 4 hours after that.

    (7) Mamas: Did you have the baby blues or PPD? How did you cope with it? How long did it last?

I don't think I had the baby blues, but I was definitely in shock.  I just tried to remain calm the first few weeks, so I could take everything in.  I think I finally felt like my normal self about a month after she was born.

    (8) Mamas: If you are BFing, what sort of "diet" did you follow for the first 3 months or so? Any foods you avoided or ate more of to try to increase your milk supply?

I ate all of the time.  Seriously, I ate more breastfeeding than I did when I was pregnant.  I could not believe how hungry I was.  Luckily, shortly after I stopped breastfeeding my diet returned to normal.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  30 weeks tomorrow!!!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  feeling pretty good...just HOT.  Summer in NOLA is brutal & between the heat & humdity & my pg self...I am hot hot hot!!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  tomorrow just for a regular check up

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?  trying to stay cool!  and work has been extra crazy & I have had to work late a lot lately so trying to get the job done, but also take care of myself

    (5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include?  we are doing both...I wanted to do mat pics, but wasn't willing to spend an arm & a leg on them.  Newborn photos were a must for me.  Luckily, I was able to find a budding photog/fellow Nestie who is just starting out & building up her bio so she was willing to do both mat & NB pics for free!  :)  Otherwise, it would have just been NB pics for us.

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery? Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that?  I only want DH.  I am worried my mom is going to make an issue out of it so at tomorrow's appt I am going to ask the dr her rules.  Hopefully she says I can only have one person in there that way it isn't an issue.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

Elyse is 6 months, two weeks and some days...

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

I haven't been able to get on a lot lately so there are a few new milestones:
    - She's sitting unassisted like a champ!
    - She has a tooth (bottom right)
    - She's giving us big open mouth kisses
    - She's started being so snuggly which is soooo nice for me :)

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

No more shots until 1 year - yay!!!

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

Elyse had a fever for about 48 hours before her tooth broke through.  I felt really bad for her.  We snuggled in our basement and watched movies.  It's SOO hot here right now and our basement is gloriously cool.

    (5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include?

We did maternity photos.  I'm a bit bitter about them because they were so expensive and I don't really like them.  nuff said about that.

We had 6 month family photos done that I love!

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery? Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that?

We planned to have DH, my mom and my doula.  It all happened so fast that my mom just about didn't make it.  Luckily she did!

No one else came until we called.  If I deliver in the wee hours of the morning again I'm going to hold off having guests until the evening.

    (7) Mamas: Did you have the baby blues or PPD? How did you cope with it? How long did it last?

I didn't have PPD or the baby blues.  I think what I experienced was pretty normal (as per my IRL friends).  I would have really bad anxiety every evening where I was really worried about the night time.  I was exhausted and would sit and sob because the first few weeks are so hard on you mentally, emotionally and physically.

My doula came over in the midst of a sobbing session.  My milk had just come in that day and she said it's quite common to get an influx of hormones and emotions when that happens.

    (8) Mamas: If you are BFing, what sort of "diet" did you follow for the first 3 months or so? Any foods you avoided or ate more of to try to increase your milk supply?

I was soooo hungry in the beginning.  I just tried to eat really well.  When my milk supply decreased I started eating oatmeal every morning.  Not sure if it helped, but I still eat oatmeal every morning - I love it now :)

Foods I find that I try to avoid because I've had bad experiences after eating them are icecream, broccoli and Indian.  I'm not 100% sure they were the problem, but I don't want to chance it.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    5.5 months old

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

Exhausted from all the stress...it's affecting my milk supply.  I've started on nursing mama's tea today and plan to nurse her round the clock this weekend to get things back on track.  Might power pump too...we'll see if I need it.

She's sitting on her own now, unassisted.  And really into her toys.  She says a version of "hi" when you come in the room, it's really cute.  She's also teething like crazy (again) but no sign of actual teeth.  She's showing lots of interest in food and we'll be starting her on solids at the end of July.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

Just my annual exam in August.  She'll go back for her 6 month check up then too.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

Trying not to let my stress affect my mothering.  I am not a great job of it and have cried too many times in the past week or so.

    (5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include?

We paid $200 for maternity, newborn, 3-6-9-12 sessions...then we have to buy the prints or digital negatives.  We usually just get a CD of 10 images for $195.   40 images is $250.  Print packages start at $89 so we prefer to invest in getting the digital CDs so we can print our own.

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery? Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that?

My MIL wanted to be there and we said no way.  Too much drama.

    (7) Mamas: Did you have the baby blues or PPD? How did you cope with it? How long did it last?

I don't think so...now lately?  That may be just depression, but not PPD.

    (8) Mamas: If you are BFing, what sort of "diet" did you follow for the first 3 months or so? Any foods you avoided or ate more of to try to increase your milk supply?

No special diet...did eat a lot of oatmeal in the first months though.  I had oversupply issues, so I didn't do much to increase supply.

TTCers:  Which cycle are you on?  Where in the cycle are you?  What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? Alexa is 9 months, 3 weeks(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?Alexa climbed our stairs! She did it on the first try! She is also walking everywhere with her walker... (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?Next appointment is her 1-year check-up in September!(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?FOOD. Knowing what to feed her and how to keep introducing new things. The goal now is to get her to start eating "real" food instead of baby food so that by the time she's 1 years old, she can eat whatever we are eating for dinner... I am also trying to get more protein in her. So we started egg yolks this week! She wasn't thrilled. So I had to hide the egg in veggies... Other new things: slices of actual watermelon and peaches! She loved those! Up next... Tofu, avocado, pasta, veggie burgers, etc.(5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include?
My sister took maternity photos of me. No one I know IRL does these! We did hire a photog to take newborn photos. Among my mom friends, we are in a minority who did this. I think ours did inspire several of them to take some photos and some friends who had babies after me all asked me for photog recs. It's definitely not as popular of a thing to do among my IRL friends as it is on this board! To find the photog, I asked on the DC Nest board. I also googled around. We paid for the session ($200) and then decided on our package later. We purchased the digital files, an album and a storyboard. I then used the digital files to make my own birth announcements and make my own photo books for our parents. (6)  Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that?
No. DH just told everyone that they have to wait outside. Our family and friends came in and out while I was in the early stages of labor. Whenever a nurse came in, she would ask them to leave before she checked me. (We had asked our nurse beforehand to do this). I ended up having a c-section so only DH could come anyway. Whey they brought me back to the room, everyone waited outside until he went to get them. That's when my sister surprised me that she missed her flight back to Spain so she could stay and meet Alexa!(7) Mamas: Did you have the baby blues or PPD? How did you cope with it? How long did it last?
Blues, yes. It lasted about 2 weeks? I cried at everything! DH loved it since I never cry at anything. LOL.(8) Mamas: If you are BFing, what sort of "diet" did you follow for the first 3 months or so? Any foods you avoided or ate more of to try to increase your milk supply? No diet. Am still BFing. Just drink TONS of water, esp when you are pumping!!

  • 1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    In my 25th week

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

Well, been having a little bit craziness lately, emotions and all.  I just was diagnosed when with Gestational Diabetes, so now I am trying to deal with the challenges that brings up.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

In a week, to check in how I have been doing with my gestational diabetes .

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

Well, my hubby and I had our first "miscommunication" about what we expect birth to be like and our plans... we worked it out, but man did I feel little crazy.

    (5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include?

Being an artist, and married to photographer we will  just do our own shoot.

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery? Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that?

As of right now just my hubby, doula's around here cost  $1600

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

been feeling good!  still not sleeping enough, but i'm managing.  MH and I both (think we) felt the baby last week!  but it's been a while since i've been able to feel it again (from the outside).  i still haven't really been able to distinguish when i'm feeling it from the inside.

oh, and i definitely "popped" sometime in the middle of last week Smile

oh, and i bought some "real" mat clothes!  a shirt and a dress from target.  i still have no mat pants - haven't even tried on a single pair...need to go to the gap.  but i now need the bella band for my biggest pair of jeans too, so i think it will be time soon.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

tuesday, for the big u/s!  i can't wait...

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

    none, really

    (5) Are you planning on or have you done a maternity and/or newborn photo shoot? If so, how did you decide on a photographer?  What does your package include?

no maternity shoot - i always thought i'd want one, but i did a boudoir shoot before the wedding, and while i'm glad i did it, i feel like the maternity photos would end up much the same way, but not even in an album - they'd just sit somewhere.  unless we do a very artistic one (where you can't even see it's me) and put it on the wall as art or something - i can't imagine we'd get much out of them.  though it would be fun.

haven't decided on the newborn shoot yet - would like to, but definitely want to explore less expensive options.  maybe research our own poses, and go to sears or something.

    (6) Who do you plan on having in the room with you during labor and delivery? Mamas: Did you ever face a situation where someone assumed they would be allowed in the L&D room with you and you had to tell them otherwise? How did you handle that?

my family doesn't know it yet, but it will be just MH and me.  i hadn't really thought about hiring a doula - still need to sign up for childbirth classes!  so, possibly a doula too, if i decide it's worth spending the money
