Babies: 6 - 9 Months

How many of you are sticking with your OB next time?

How many of you will be sticking with the same OB you had for your LO?  How many will be switching for the next child?

I haven't decided.  I liked my OB but wasn't crazy about the office/nurses.  We'll see...

  • I'm definitely staying- he was awesome! Plus, I don't think my hubby would let me switch because even he loved him!
  • I really hope I can.  But they don't take DH's insurance and since I'm not working I  don't have my own now (I'm under his) so he has to switch.  That means we can't TTC till Dec which stinks because we wanted to in Oct.  Ohh well, I guess 2 months won't be so bad.

  • Pretty sure there won't be a next time, but if there were, there is absolutely NO WAY I would go with the same OB. Not a chance.
  • I would stay, but we're moving out of state. I felt very comfortable with her and with her co-worker that handled the delivery day drama so while I didn't love how late the office ran EVERY time I'd stay with them.

This is the experience I was hoping for.  I know you shouldn't expect your OB to be your BFF, but I still wanted something like what your experience was.

  • Nope.  I liked my OB but hated the Dr that actually delivered the baby.  Considering chances are slim my OB would be the one to deliver the next, not liking any doctor in the practice is reason to part ways.  Besides, I think I'd rather use a midwife

  • I'm going to a different hospital, therefore a different OB. I didn't have a problem with the OBGYN group at the other hospital, but the lactation nursing staff there kinda pissed me off. Plus we had a small issue when they wanted to take the baby to a part of the hospital that was "staff only" and we flat out refused to let her go without one of us.
  • My OB is my GYNO as well, so I love her and will definately use her for the next baby. Plus I feel like she knows me. I'm a face not just a name that she reads before she walks through the door. I had to have a C-section, which I really didn't want, but Orion was breach. She was great, very supportive walked me through everything. Made me feel so good about the whole thing.

  • I don't think I am.  I really liked my OB but it ended up being one of his partners that delivered DS.  He started pitocin when I was 8 cm even though DS wasn't showing any sign of distress.  I think he just had better things to do.  I know I should have questioned it but I didn't.

  • We're not planning on having any more babies, but I would definitely stick with my OB. She is still my gynecologist and I love her, and her nurse is outstanding as well. I miss my OB check-ups just cuz I miss seeing them! I actually can't wait for my papsmear next month so I can see them!

  • Yes.  I used the midwives at our hospital and they were fabulous!

  • Nope, will be switching to a midwife at a birthing center in hopes of a VBAC.  Love my OB but feel my C-section was unnecessary.

  • i absolutely absolutely LOVED my OB! THe only reason i would ever change is if i moved otherwise I will be with her forever or until she retires!
  • I am! I was dealing with infertility so I was seeing my OB alot even before I got pregnant, then I had a high risk pregnancy so I seen her even more. I was just thinking the other day it will be cool when we TTC the next because I get to see her again. lol

I've always hated all the OBs I've ever seen and I just lucked out to find the OB I did when I started infertility treatments.

  • I would most definitely stay with her, I loved her and all the nurses/techs at her office plus she is only 10 minutes from the hospital (which I will also be staying with next time!)
  • So I loved my OB.  She's a really great doctor.  And she let me labor naturally a whole lot longer and under a lot of circumstances that I didn't think she would have allowed.  BUT . . .

I am switching to a MW practice for the next baby.  I'm seeing them right now, and I love them.  In general they just approach reproductive care and child birth in a way I'm more comfortable with.  After meeting this MW practice I can't imagine ever going back to an OB for my routine care.

  • Only if they are supportive of my attempt at a VBAC. Also, I will be using a doula.

But this is a hard question, because the OB that ended up delivering me is a real pushy b**ch with no bedside manner.  However, she is a great surgeon.  I have the prettiest c-scar I've ever seen.  My usual OB is much nicer, but you never know who you're going to get, unless you schedule the c-section.  So many decisions.

  • I will be. I couldn't have asked for a better OB!

  • I'm sticking with him for sure. And I'd recommend him to anyone. He's been my gyno for like 10 years and I loved his demeanor so much in the delivery room. I realllllly love my OBGYN.
  • I am- loved her!
  • I loved my OB, I didn't love the 2 hour waits at her office because she was running behind.

That being said, I'd still go back to her if it weren't for the fact that I want to give birth at the same hospital I did with Kieran.

I ended up being transferred to a different city and I loved that hospital so much that I want to have my 2nd LO there too.  Only problem is I need to find an OB there.

  • I've decided to change. I just haven't picked one yet.

  • I would have stayed. I loved him and the office, and DH even loved him! (Which was weird, because he wasn't comfortable with a male OB) But I moved out of state, and I'm going back and forth on if there will be a next time.

  • I'm sticking with my OB this time around. She had a good balance to her (on time, informative, personable, professional). And the practice she's at is great as a whole. The other OB's, nurse practitioners, office staff, everyone is fab at their job.

  • I would, I loved him, but I'm moving.  We're moving back to our hometown (YAY!!) and luckily, I already had an OB there that I loved too.  He will defiantely take into account all of my issues and I know he will take good care of my and our subsequent little ones.
