Well, I had my baby girls last evening. It all started with a quick visit to the doctor's to figure out why my legs and feet had swollen so drastically. Once there, they discovered my blood pressure was 160/98. I was immediately sent to L&D. At L&D, their focus was my blood pressure and figure out if it would come down on its own. After about an hour it had come down to around 134/85. They decided I was hypertensive and that they would keep me overnight to monitor whether I was on my way to becoming pre-eclamptic. They gave me a steroid shot to help mature the babies' lungs just in case I got pre-eclampsia and the babies had to be delivered.
While on the monitors, I started to notice some contractions that seemed pretty close together. I'd been dealing with uterine irritability so it wasn't a huge surprise, except that they'd been pretty calm the previous week. They checked my cerix and I was only thinning a little and wasn't dilated. They said they'd check again in a few hours. Well, two hours later I was 3cm. Again, they thought maybe I'd stall but at the next check, I was 4 cm and 0 station. They decided delivery was imminent. At 32 weeks 3 days they said they wouldn't try to stop labor. Because baby B was breach, I opted for a c-section.
Within 2 hours they had me prepped and in the OR for the section. The spinal was uncomfortable for a moment, but no where near as scary as I had thought. I was put in place and within moments was completely numb. They brought my husband in and got started. Within moments DH was a little faint. He blamed the mask for making him feel like he was hyperventilating. Fortunately he let the anesthesiolgist know before he actually passed out, so they were able to lie him on the floor and put his feet up until he felt a bit better. Once the babies were out he was feeling better and was so enamored with them, he was back on his feet taking pictures of the girls. Alaena Marie was born at 11:55pm, 5lbs 6 oz. and Sophia Elizabeth was born at 11:57pm, 5lbs 1oz. They were whisked to the NICU after briefly being cleaned up in the OR and I barely got to see them.
Unfortunately, they are both on c-pap. Their little lungs need some more time to mature. Otherwise they are beautiful and healthy. DH and I spend lots of time with them in the NICU and are hoping that tomorrow we'll be able to actually hold them. We still can't believe that they're here, but there's no doubt that we're incredibly in love with them already.

Congrats and I hope they will be out of the NICU and home with you soon!!
So scary about your DH in the OR but what were probably scary moments at the time will make a funny story later on to your girls.
Congrats on your babies! Those are such great sizes for 32 weekers. My girls were 4lbs4oz and 4lbs 1oz and we were told they were pretty big for their gestation! My girls were on CPAP for 3 and 4 days. My one baby did have to be intubated for less than 24 hours on the second day to be given Surfactant to help with her lungs. They both were in the NICU for exactly one month. I hope you have a short and uneventful NICU stay.
Congrats!!
