  Hi, I'm Sally.  DH is AD AF.  We currently live in Pensacola, but once DH finishes school in mid-July we will be moving to Hawaii (which is why I am on this board).  He is going to be stationed at Kunia, which I believe is just north of Hickam.

   How long have you been at Hickam?  Do you like it?

  Greetings Sally!!! I'm Stacie. He's been at Hickam for almost a year and I've been here for almost 2 months. So far I love it here. Things are a little expensive when it comes to off base housing.

  This is what everyone keeps me telling me.  Luckily, we used to live in Baltimore, MD (where the cost of living is also high) without the benefit of COLA, so hopefully Hawaii won't be too much of a shock for us.

  Hey Sally,

   

  My husband is at the Kunia location too.  It's actually more near Schofield than Hickam (It's actually officially a "Schofield Building").  We live in Ewa Beach (off -base) so the drive is much better.  If you end up on base housing in Hickam be prepared for some traffic.  Right now DH is on casuals and has to go out to Hickam each morning and come back in the afternoon, it takes forever!

   

  We lived in Baltimore too.  Hawaii cost of living is by far higher than Maryland cost of living.  But maybe it's cause I grew up in Hawaii and when I went to the mainland I spent all my time going "Oh my god, everything is so CHEAP!"  

  But, Hickam ladies - I heard there is a good hawaiian quilting class at the craft store on base.  You get to make a pillow.  Anyone interested in taking it?
