I've decided with lots of thought to stop BF. I'm very proud of myself considering I was on the fence about doing it in the first place. I literally decided at the hospital when I had no choice but tell my nurse how I was feeding A. A's 2 month (i know, right!!) appt is next wednesday and I will be discussing with his doc what formula is best.
I've had a hard time w/BF on a personal level from the moment I started, I thought it was my fault A was jaundice, I blame my milk when he's really gassy and bawling in pain. Sunday he had diahrrea, even a little blood in his poop and to think it might have been from something I ate. That really upsets (I cry just thinking about it ) me to think i've caused my son pain and discomfort.
For the last 2wks I've tried everything I can to increase my milk supply, but I can't. My little man is just a little piglet!
I've tried my best....sigh

Awww Nicole!
BFing is not easy, especially in teh begining, and especially for teh first time. It is completely normal to struggle. So please know that you are not alone in what you have been/ are going through.
Jaundice is really common. Lil Miss had it too. I just *knew* she would, so I read everything I could about it, and I could not find a single known way to prevent it or even predict it. It just happens. You DID NOT cause it. And, BF'ing is supposed to help it pass even faster. So you did the best you could for lil A.
Also, FWIW, I think almost every baby goes through a really gassy period around 6-8 weeks. Every baby I 'know personally' has at least. Sometimes it is a matter of trial and error in the mom's diet, but part of it is just their digestive system growing and changing I think.
Formula feeding is just as valid of a choice as breastfeeding, and can still result in a happy healthy baby and a strong bond between mom and baby. If that is the choice that makes you happiest, then it is the best one for your family. But if you are thinking about stopping only becasue you are struggling, but otherwise are happy with Bf'ing, I would suggest seeing a Lactation Consulatant first. From personal experince, LCs are an invaluable resource!
Nicole, you are a great mom and you are doing a great job. Don't feel bad! :::hugs & love from me & Izzy::::
Hold your head up high, lady! You breastfed your little guy for 2 whole months. You rock!
Gas happens. Their little systems have so much to get used to, there's no way you can keep up and always change your eating habits. It is too much of a guessing game.
If it makes you feel any better, I am going to talk to the doc about switching to formula at K's 4 month appt, next month, if I still haven't lost any weight. And that is for purely, vain and selfish reasons. At least you have a valid excuse!
I have these reasons too.
I second all of this! You did great things for A by giving him BM for 2 months.

I agree with these ladies, A got 2 whole months of BF, that is amazing. You tried and are just making the best decision for you both.
