Speaking of Nannies

I would LOVE to go back to my nanny job and be able to take my LO.  I will be looking to do this again.  I loved my old nanny job, loved the kids and the family.  It was awesome... I did it all through college.  Now that I am an adult having my own, just a thought, but it would be WONDERFUL to be able to be a nanny and bring my own LO.  Not sure why I am posting... unless you need a nanny in the East Bay CA area LOL.... just think I needed to write my thoughts out... perhaps I will change careers again.  Insurance brokering is not as fun, that is for sure!

Re: Speaking of Nannies

  • I was a full time nanny and loved it as well.  I still babysit...unusual I know being 30yrs old with a masters degree and a baby on the way, but it brings in a little extra money.  Anyway, I am thinking of bringing a baby into our home to care for it or finding a family who will let me take the baby with me.  I'm just worried I am going to miss our baby too much, plus with the cost of daycare it's like is it really worth it?  So I guess my point is I know where you are coming from.

  • I was a nanny for 10 years before having DD, and I seriously loved it. I was able to score a job that allowed me to bring DD with me, so I was definitely excited about it. Until about 4 months in. I had DD who was 4 months old and then 7 month old twins.

    I wanted to kill myself.

  • My sister is a nanny and can bring her daughter with her. It's an ideal situation, but she's exhausted at the end of the day. Also she is family planning around getting her DD into pre-school before having another because she doesn't want to bring 2 of her own kids to her job. That part would bug me.

  • I'm so amazed you guys would want to go back to nannying. I was a nanny for 2 years with the best family (I'm still friends with the parents) and 2 good (for the most part) little girls. My boss said to me PLENTY of times that I could stay with them and bring our LO once he/she came along but I couldn't do it. I actually stopped working at 20 weeks because I wanted to have child-less time before my babe.
  • Our first nanny brought her daughter with her, she was only 3 months younger than our dd.  We go to the same church and our girls (age 10) are STILL best friends - they met at around a year.  We really missed her when she had to leave because of additional pregnancies.  She's really busy now with her 4 dd's.

  • I've thought about trying to find a job where I could bring my child but don't know how it would work, especially since I'd be BFing my child and FFing the other baby. I know if I were hiring a nanny I'd be worried that her child would be getting preferential treatment while I'm paying her to watch MY kid.

The money would be nice tho! :)
